The Ruin Drake: Earthguard can periodically release a torrent of energy that deal AoE damage. This can be avoided by moving away from the Ruin Drake and out of its AoE, or deflect it with a character's shield.
The Ruin Drake: Earthguard will rush at the character and attempt to headbutt or hit with its tail, which is easily avoided by dashing at the last second or generally keeping your distance.
The Ruin Drake: Earthguard gains Elemental Resistance based on the previous main Elemental DMG that it receives, making it a tough enemy to beat!
A good strategy is to hit it with Physical attacks or use strong elemental attacks that can deal as much damage as possible in one strike.
When absorbing an element from the previous Elemental DMG it receives, the Ruin Drake: Earthguard also has a chance to attack with Energy Torrents affected by the element.
To temporarily bring down the Ruin Drake: Earthguard, hit the weak spot at the center of its body when it's exposed. You can also aim for the head when it's glowing and charging up!

Adventurer Handbook Description |
---|
A horrifying dragon-shaped machine. It is said to be a war machine left behind by a now-destroyed nation. It mimics the appearance of the beings known as Vishaps, with some functional enhancements. Such machines have an even greater ability to ''absorb'' — or perhaps the right word is ''counteract'' — elemental powers, than the vishaps. From this ability, one can glimpse the scale of the ambition that the civilization that made these machines must have once held... |
The Ruin Drakes can be found in various locations in Sumeru's Rainforest Region.
