Charcoal | |
Effect | An item to be held by a Pokémon. It’s a combustible fuel that boosts the power of Fire-type moves. |
---|
Located in Stow-on-Side, there is a bargain shop that sells rare items where the prices are not fixed.
You can buy Charcoal for ₽3000 if it is the Bargain of the Day.
You can only buy one item per day so it is good to visit daily. Talk to the merchant to check yesterday's, tomorrow's, and today's Bargain of the Day.
The following Pokemon may hold the item, Charcoal. You can get it by using the move Thief or Trick.
Vulpix | Ninetales | Torkoal | Turtonator |
If you choose Scorbunny as your starter, you will get the Charcoal item when you progress in the story.
Charcoal is useful as a held item on Fire-type Pokemon. This move increases the power of Fire-type moves by 20%.
Torkoal is a good example of a Charcoal user as it also has access to Drought. These two, in addition to STAB, make Torkoal's Fire-type moves deadlier compared to most.
You may come to a point where you may ask yourself if you should use Charcoal or either Choice Band or Choice Specs on your Fire-type attacker.
Advantage | Disadvantage | |
---|---|---|
Charcoal | ・20% damage boost to Fire-type moves ・Can use all moves |
・Only boost Fire-type moves |
Choice Band or Choice Specs | ・50% boost to Atk/Sp.Atk | ・Locked to one move |
The item you should use will depend on how you are going to utilize your Pokemon's moveset.
If your Pokemon will only rely on one Fire-type move, then a Choice item will be the better option. If you think your Pokemon needs to use a coverage or any other move somewhere down the road, then let it hold Charcoal.
