Fields of Mistria Gameplay
Fields of Mistria is a farming simulator RPG where you must complete a series of quests to rebuild and revitalize the town of Mistria. Deal with your task and live your life day by day in Mistria to restore the town to its former glory. You can grow unique crops, fish and forage, raise animals, explore dungeons and mine, and complete challenges. Moreover, you can play through four seasons with unique weather that dictate the availability of crops, forage, fish, insects and more. Fields of Mistria also features dating mechanics that enables you to romance the town's marriage candidates. The game also includes modding support which enables you to change up how villagers may look.
Fields of Mistria is heavily inspired by popular farm-life sim RPG titles such as Harvest Moon, and the game has often been compared to Stardew Valley. While Fields of Mistria's gameplay loop spans typical farm-life sim mechanics of farming, foraging, fishing, and raising animals, it has greater emphasis on the roleplay elements, where your journey along with the town of Mistria unfolds through focused storytelling. As such, you may find more compelling dialogue, as well as a cohesive and dynamic town life in Fields of Mistria.
Quests
You can play through different types of quests including: the main story quests that furthers Fields of Mistria's story, heart quests that involve romanceable characters, and regular requests from villagers. Quests can be initiated by reading mail or accepting them at the request board.
Farm, Fish, and Raise Animals
You can grow over 50 different crops throughout the year, depending on the season. Crops are grown using seeds, and planted on tilled soil on your farm. Other types of crops in the game can also be foraged in the wild. Apart from farming, you can also raise a variety of adorable animals like cows and chicken, among others. You can breed the animals in your farm which lets you unlock other color variants of your animals. You can also give your animals toys to play with, and even dress them up with their own cosmetics.
Weather Mechanics
Throughout the year, you'll be able to experience four seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. In Fields of Mistria, the type of season will affect what you can grow as most crops are seasonal. As such, the growth rate of crops will also vary, and any seasonal crop that fails to grow will wither at the end of each season.
Crafting, Cooking, and Blacksmithing
The game has crafting, cooking, and blacksmithing mechanics, with over 600 items available to craft such as item sets that can help you start your farm. In addition, you can upgrade and customize your home with over 200 available items. Performing these mechanics generally require you to have specific materials in your inventory, as well as requiring your protagonist to reach skill levels.
Romance Marriage Candidates
You can meet and befriend over 30 characters in Fields of Mistria, including 10 marriage candidates and 2 special marriage candidates that you can romance and date. The dating mechanic involves heart level progression and events, wherein you're required to raise hearts up to 4 hearts and unlock the romanceable character's unique 2 and 4 heart events. You can choose to romance any of the marriage candidates regardless of gender. Apart from romance, you will also get to know the villagers' daily routines that change based on seasons, weather, and special events.
Dungeon Crawling
You can go on an adventure and explore the depths below Mistria, called The Mines, which is composed of over 60 levels below ground. In dungeons, expect to engage in combat with monsters and encounter surprises in store. The Mines is home to different biomes that have unique floor types, treasure chests, loot drops, creatures, and enemies. You can delve deeper into The Mines by breaking rocks and finding ladders, but you should exercise caution as your character can faint under certain circumstances.
