How to Unlock Wherefore Did the Spiritstone Descend?

Complete the Perils in the Dark

To unlock Wherefore Did the Spiritstone Descend?, you must first complete the Perils in the Dark. Once done, proceed to the quest marker and speak with Zhiqiong.

Speak with Zhiqiong

After obtaining the Curious Cube from the previous quest, go south of Nameless Ruins and speak with Zhiqiong. Following the scene, accompany Zhiqiong to the next campsite and speak with her once more.

Head to the Gate

After the scene, proceed through The Glowing Narrows until you reach the gate mentioned by Zhiqiong. When you arrive, another scene with Zhiqiong will be triggered, and after you're free to move, open the gate by interacting with the mechanism near the gate.

Purify the Large Crystal

Pass through the gate and follow the straight path until you reach the end, triggering another cutscene. During the cutscene, you'll notice a giant floating crystal in the middle, identical to the one in Dragonspine, but this time the crystal has been tainted by a dark substance.

It appears that in order to recharge the floating crystal, you must restore every mechanism in the area.

How to Recharge All Five Mechanisms

To complete this section of the quest, you'll need to use the Lumenstone Adjuvant gadget to recharge all five braziers to 100%, while defending it against enemies.

	Steps
1	Press Recharge on the large crystal brazier with your Lumenstone Adjuvant.
2	Defeat the enemies that appear.
3	With the Lumenstone Adjuvant still equipped, stand beside the brazier until it charges up to 100%. Do this until you complete all five mechanisms.

Defeat the Ruin Serpent

After successfully recharging all five mechanisms, proceed to the crystal to trigger a new cutscene. After the cutscene, it's time to fight the Ruin Serpent. You'll need to fight the monster with the current team you have, so it's a good idea to set up your party before approaching the crystal.

Return to the Campsite

There will be another scene after defeating the Ruin Serpent; after completed, return to the campsite and chat with Zhiqiong. After conversing with everyone at the campsite, return up the Chasm and speak with Muning to conclude the quest!
