Effect | If held by a Pokemon, it restores the user's HP in a pinch, but it will cause confusion if the user hates the taste. |
---|
Mago Berry is a Berry that heals 33% of its holder's max HP if it drops to 1/4 of its total health, but only works on some Pokemon.
Pokemon with Natures that decrease its Speed stat (Relaxed, Quiet, Sassy, and Brave) will not be healed by this item and will rather get confused once this item is consumed.
You can get Mago Berry by shaking Berry trees found in Wild Areas and Routes.
Hammerlocke Hills | Route 7 |
You can get more Berries by shaking a tree multiple times. However, the more you shake it, the higher the possibility that Pokemon will fall from the tree and challenge you into a battle.
It would also mean that the chances of getting Berries will decrease.
Normal Shake | Possibility of Falling Pokemon |

You can get all kinds of Berries as a reward when winning Max Raids.
For more information on Max Raids and how to win them, see our guide!
How to Win Max Raid Battles
Mago Berry fits most bulky, defensive Pokemon in order to prolong its influence in the field, with it being able to stay in battle even if it drops to 1/4 of its max HP.
Avoid using this Berry on Trick Room teams, especially those that have Speed-reducing Natures as consuming Mago Berry will confuse it.
Do note that facing Pokemon with Unnerve and As One will render this Berry useless, so watch out for Pokemon with these Abilities!
Mago Berry is mainly used as a recovery item that bypasses item restrictions. If you need HP-recovering Berries and have already set a Sitrus Berry on another Pokemon, you can use this Berry.
In case if you need to choose between the two, Sitrus Berry is a safer choice as you don't need to be in near-critical health to activate your recovery item.
Mago Berry can be used as an ingredient when cooking Curries at the Campsite! Using Mago Berry in your Curry will give it a Sweet flavor.
You can also use Mago Berries to produce an item at the Cram-O-Matic! The product you will get will depend on what items you combine the Berry with.
