You can get more Berries by shaking a tree multiple times. However, the more you shake it, the higher the possibility that Pokemon will fall from the tree and challenge you into a battle.
It would also mean that the chances of getting Berries will decrease.

The Custap Berry has the effect of allowing the holder to move first in its priority bracket at 1/4 of its Maximum HP. This can be useful for slower moving Pokemon with high HP such as Snorlax in dishing out moves ahead of its enemies as its HP goes lower.
