Following the liberation of Mondstadt from the corruption of the nobles, Vennessa established the Knights of Favonius as Mondstadt's governing body.
Vennessa was named the first Dandelion Knight, or Liontooth Knight and these titles would be passed down to exceptional members of the Knights of Favonius. Currently Jean holds this title.
Knight of Boreas is another title held by exceptional Knights and is currently held by Grand Master Varka. Currently it's unclear how this title relates to Andrius (Lupus Boreas)
During the Cataclysm, hordes of monsters began to infest Teyvat. The Grand Master at that time, Arundolyn, decided to take the majority of the Knights on an expedition to the heart of the Khaenri'ah, where the monsters were said to originate.
With the Grand Master away, Mondstadt was powerless against the black dragon Durin who attacked a while after the expedition began.
Sometime following the defeat of Durin by Dvalin and Barbatos, Arundolyn returned to Mondstadt. Arundolyn then resigned from the Knights of Favonius due to losing his will to fight from the death of his fellow knight and friend, Rostam.
Currently there are no records of any other major events in the years since the Cataclysm until the present in game time. Half a year before the Traveler arrived in Mondstadt, Grand Master Varka took off on an expedition leaving Jean in charge. Currently Varka's destination and whereabouts are unknown.
At some point before the events of the game the Fatui set up their outpost in Mondstadt and begin recruiting young people into their ranks who would later disappear. One of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers, Il Dottore, pressures Mondstadt for more Fatui recruits using his casual defeat of Ursa the Drake as leverage.
Diluc and Kaeya successfully stall the negotiations with the Futui, but two Fatui diplomats would later die in a mysterious black fire at the gates of Mondstadt which created further tension.
With the help of Amber and the escaped test subject Collei, it is discovered that the Fatui are conducting human experiments with a substance called Archon Residue. The Archon Residue within Collei causes black flames in the shape of a serpent when she loses control.
During Mondstadt's festival, Lupi Harpastum, the Knights of Favonius are able defeat one of the Fatui agents responsible for the human experiments and seal away Collei's Archon Residue with the help of Cyno.
