The Akademiya has six main disciplines, or Darshans. Each Darshan encompasses several fields of study, and many other Darshans have been created and disbanded in the past. Each Darshan is also headed by a Great Sage.

Amurta - Biology

The Amurta is the oldest Darshan in the Akademiya. It's main focus is on biology, ecology, and medicine. Tighnari himself studied botany while he was at the Akademiya.

There are many NPCs, such as Haypasia from the Chapter 3 Act 1 Archon Quest and Khedive from the Chasm Delvers world quest, who studied as members of the Amurta Darshan.

Tighnari	Akademiya Alumni Researcher and Forest Ranger in the Avidya Forest.
Naphis	Great Sage of the Amurta Tighnari's Mentor and one of the two remaining sages after the conclusion of the Archon Quest Chapter 3 Act 5.
Khedive Pursina	Researcher Sponsored the Chasm Exploration Team. Location before the Chasm Delvers quest: easternmost Teleport Waypoint on the Chasm Surface. Location after the quest: camp by the Teleport Waypoint in The Narrows in the Underground Mines.

Kshahrewar - Technology

The Kshahrewar Darshan specializes in studying Technology. Originally started to study propulsion mechanisms, this discipline includes studies in architecture and mechanics.

Kaveh	Akademiya Alumni Known as the 'representative of the Kshahrewar' and a famous architect in the Akademiya. The architect who designed Dori's Palace of Alcazarzaray.

Haravatat - Semiotics

Researchers from the Haravatat focus on linguistics and rune studies. They see language as the core and essence of the world.

Alhaitham	Akademiya Alumni, Scribe Temporarily held the position of Acting Grand Sage after the conclusion of the Archon Quest Chapter 3 Act 5 and during his Character Story Quest.
Faruzan	Akademiya Scholar, Professor Scholar who went missing for 100 years after being trapped in ancient ruins. Became a Professor after returning to the Akademiya.
Khajeh	Great Sage of the Haravatat (former) Removed from his position after the conclusion of the Archon Quest Chapter 3 Act 5.

Vahumana - Aetiology

Vahumana is focused on the source and make-up of knowledge and its nature. Their origins lie in the rejection of King Deshret's remaining theories and has since evolved to be about History, Sociology, and other social sciences.

Vikram	Akademiya Researcher A supposedly charismatic individual mentioned by several NPCs. One of the candidates for the position of Grand Conservator.
Aqaba	Akademiya Researcher Researcher whose focus is on the history of Tatarasuna in Inazuma.

Spantamad - Elementalism

The Spantamad Darshan focuses on studying Elemental Reactions and Changes, including the study of Ley Lines, alchemy, and elemental science.

Lisa	Akademiya Alumni Known in the Akademiya as a genius who graduated in only 2 years. Currently Mondstadt's Knights of Favonius Librarian.
Cyno	Akademiya Alumni, General Mahamatra Studied under the same Sage as Lisa. The highest authority amongst the Matra.
Cyrus	Professor and Researcher (retired) Cyno's adoptive father, a former Akademiya Professor, and Spantamad sage. He is both a mentor and a father figure to Cyno and Lisa during their time at the Akademiya. He had been the one to help Cyno deal with the 'power of Hermanubis.'
Sage of Spantamad	Great Sage of the Spantamad (former) Removed from the position after the conclusion of the Archon Quest Chapter 3 Act 5.

Rtawahist - Illuminationism

The Rtawahist Darshan focuses on Illuminationism, and includes studies of the stars such as Astrology and Astronomy. Mona's Astrology column on the Fontaine news publication, the Steam Bird, is popular amongst Rtawahist students.

What is the Akademiya in Genshin Impact?

Famous Learning Institute in Teyvat

Prior to the release of Sumeru in Version 3.0, the Akademiya was primarily known as a learning institute or university. Various scholars from Sumeru can be found in the other nations while working on their research.

Sumeru's Main Governing Body

The Akademiya acts as the main governing body in the Sumeru region. The administration and ruling of Sumeru, particularly in the Rainforest area, often fall under the Akademiya's jurisdiction.

Led by the Grand Sage

The overall leader in the Akademiya is the Grand Sage, who has absolute authority in the institution. During the 500 years that the Dendro Archon was not actively ruling in Sumeru, it was the Grand Sage who held the most power.

Source of the Akasha System

The Akasha Terminal is an earpiece worn by everyone in Sumeru City. The device collects and shares all knowledge in Sumeru, the flow of which is controlled primarily by the sages of the Akademiya.

The Akademiya can also announce new laws, give notices, and relay orders through the Akasha Terminal.

The Creation and Fall of the Akasha System

During the Chapter 3 Archon Quests, it was revealed that the Greater Lord Rukkhadevata created the Akasha in an attempt to solve the Withering and encroachment of the corruption that plagued the desert.

After her disappearance, the Akademiya Sages used the Akasha to control the flow of information in Sumeru and gain more authority over the region. Eventually, the Dendro Archon stopped the use of the Akasha System.

The Three Virtues and Six Sins

The Three Virtues of the Akademiya

The Akademiya has three virtues, described by the Sumeru Talent Level-Up books. These are virtues that Akademiya researchers must uphold to represent the nation of Wisdom.

Item	Description
Philosophies of Ingenuity	Ingenuity is the leaf-veins of the nation of wisdom. Ingenuity is completed by harmonious conduct. What is done completes what is thought. Wisdom blooms where the mind, words, and practice converge.
Philosophies of Admonition	Admonition is the branches of the nation of wisdom. Admonition is completed by good deeds. What is done confers real meaning upon what is said. When one's mind, words, and deeds are aligned, their nourishment shall guarantee the fruition of wisdom's tree.
Philosophies of Praxis	Praxes are the roots of the nation of wisdom. Praxes bring forth the fruit of wisdom. Practice grants itself meaning, and it is only by treading a path that unites action, speech, and thought that the wise may reach perfection.

The Six Sins of the Akademiya

The six sins, on the other hand, are believed to be the source of crime amongst researchers. According to Cyno's Story Profile, the sins are the original basis of the Akademiya's Rules, which have been added upon and modified over the years.

Where is the Akademiya

Located in Sumeru City

The main facilities of the Akademiya is located at the center of Sumeru City in Sumeru's Rainforest area. The building itself has been built around the large Divine Tree.

The House of Daena

Map Location	World View

The House of Daena is a large library inside the Akademiya. This was once hailed as the largest collection of knowledge before the establishment of the Akasha System.

Katayoun, the Librarian at the House of Daena, said that the library had become more of a museum after the Akasha was made. After the Chapter 3 Act 5 Archon Quest, Katayoun will say that the library has seen much more use.

Birmastan

The Birmastan is located in the northern area of Sumeru City. This area is considered to be medical facilities where Doctors tend to patients and Interns from the Akademiya gain hands-on experience.

Pardis Dhyai

Pardis Dhyai is located west of Vimara Village in the Sumeru Rainforest. The greenhouse in this area is primarily used by Amurta researchers and those who study botany, such as Tighnari!

Known Positions in the Akademiya

The Six Great Sages

The Akademiya has six Great Sages, each one holding administrative power over their own Darshan. The sages hold the highest power in the Akademiya as a whole, just below the Dendro Archon and the Grand Sage.

Loss of the Sages in the Akademiya

During the events of the Archon Quest Chapter 3 Act 5, four of the six sages lost their positions at the Akademiya. After their plot failed, the Grand Sage, Azar, and the other three sages decided to spend the rest of their lives in the Avidya Forest to cultivate wisdom.

The two remaining sages, the Sage of Amurta and Vahumana, were the only ones who refused to participate in the other sages' plot. The freed Dendro Archon personally handled the search for new sages.

The Scribe

In Alhaitham's Story Profile, the scribe is described as being responsible for classifying and archiving important documents, as well as attending essential meetings and taking notes.

Alhaitham is the current scribe of the Akademiya. In Sumeru, where books and manuscript documents were once managed as a resource, the scribe is one of the most in-the-know people in the entire Akademiya.

The Matra

The Matra are the Akademiya's law enforcers, with the General Mahamatra, currently Cyno, having the highest authority. They are in charge of hunting down any researchers who broke the rules of the Akademiya.

The Matra also work to prevent illegal distribution of knowledge, such as in Canned Knowledge or smuggled books.

The Grand Conservator

The Grand Conservator is the director of the House of Daena, the Akademiya's official library. There are two candidates, researchers named Vikram and Rifaet, being considered for the currently vacant position.

The Mahamata

You can find Mahamata in several locations in Sumeru. Most Mahamata are Alumni who serve as liasons between the Akademiya and the local administration of an area or business.

Amongst the NPCs found in Sumeru, there is a Mahamata in Port Ormos, Bimarstan, and the Kalimi Exchange. Afratu, from the quest Afratu's Dilemma, said that he is also a Mahamata.

Navbed	Administrative Officers in charge of issues related to taxes and business in Sumeru. You can find the Navbed Shahbandar at the docks of Sumeru City.
Vizier	In charge of administration over the Grand Bazaar and Treasures Street in Sumeru City. The Vizier, Nizam, can be found near the southern entrance of Sumeru City.
Scholars	Alternate name for those who study and conduct research at the Akademiya.
Driyosh	Traveling Scholars who venture out of Sumeru and into other regions to pursue their research. An example is Alrani, from the And This Treasure Goes To... quest.
Dastur	An Akademiya researcher who has passed two thesis through the review process and became formal researchers. Anisa, from the Solitary Sea-Beast quest, is a Dastur Trainee.
Herbad	Researchers with a higher position than Dasturs. Hosseini, from the Shadow of the Ancients event, described Herbads as 'knowledgeable beyond the pale, leaders among scholars.'
Teachers/Professors	Researchers with teaching positions within the Akademiya. Teachers can have specific students and classes they oversee. Some Alumni can also give Lectures at the Akademiya, but are not necessarily considered teachers.
