Piers, the Spikemuth Gym Leader, uses Dark-type Pokemon, which are weak to Fighting and Fairy types, so before going to obtain the 7th Badge, take the opportunity to Level Up a Fighting or Fairy-type Pokemon at least to Level 45.
His most powerful Pokemon is a level 46 Obstagoon, so having a Pokemon around level 46 with type advantage will help you secure victory.
