Competitive Analysis

Volt Tackle is a move that can only be used by Pichu, Pikachu, and both Raichu and Alolan Raichu.

This move is powerful and can paralyze its target, but deals recoil damage calculated at 1/2 of the damage done to the target.

Volt Tackle vs Wild Charge

Pikachu's evolutionary line can also learn Wild Charge, a weaker move that cannot inflict paralysis but deals less recoil damage.

It is not recommended to keep using Volt Tackle as there is only ten percent of causing the target to be paralyzed. In the long run, it will just put the user in a dangerous position because of the recoil damage done to it.

There are better options for inflicting paralysis while dealing damage, like Thunderbolt.

Volt Tackle Locations

Volt Tackle can only be learned by Pichu. Pichu will know Volt Tackle upon hatching if it is bred with either parent Pokemon holding Light Clay.
