Competitive Analysis

Hatterene can be built to fill supportive roles, and Magic Powder, in certain situations, can fit in with its moveset.

Magic Powder transforms its target into a Psychic-type, gaining all effects this type has, including STAB.

This can be used to protect Normal and Poison-type allies in order for them to gain Psychic-type's resistances, which are Fighting and Psychic-type moves.

Alternatively, you can use this on an opposing Pokemon for them to be vulnerable to Bug, Dark, or Ghost-type moves.

Do note that Magic Powder cannot be used on Grass-type Pokemon, those holding Safety Goggles, or Pokemon with Overcoat.

Magic Powder Locations

Magic Powder is Hatterene's signature move and can only be learned by Level Up.
