Competitive Analysis

Recover is a staple move for bulky Pokemon that allows them to stay in battles as long as they can hold on.

Recover vs Rest

Recover is a quick and easy HP-restoring move that doesn't have the slight disadvantage Rest has.

You can use Recover and not worry about falling asleep or letting the user hold Chesto Berry.

This frees up the held item slot for other items, and you can freely restore HP even when Electric Terrain or Misty Terrain is present in the field.

As for Rest, using the move will remove any status conditions a Pokemon may have, a feat Recover doesn't have.

At times Rest can be the better recovery option, provided it has a way to wake up from being asleep.
