Competitive Analysis

Using Lock-On ensures that the user's next move on the target will hit.

This setup is useful for moves that have criminally-low accuracy like Zap Cannon or even one-hit KO moves like Fissure or Horn Drill, although your opponent can easily predict what you are planning to do.

Additionally, Lock-On will fail if used on a semi-invulnerable target, like those in the middle of Dig or Fly.
