Who is Digging Ma?

Digging Ma is a helpful character who can be found on the Isle of Armor. She's the wife of Digging Pa, and the mother of the famous Digging Duo from the base game.

Digging Ma will help the player by digging for Armorite Ore, which can be used to teach Pokemon exclusive new Tutor Moves at the Master Dojo, or to purchase services from Digging Pa or Lady Clear.

Digging Armorite Ores

When meeting Digging Ma, the player can select Yes to try to dig for Armorite Ore, or No to receive 1 piece of Armorite Ore for free.

Digging Ma will require 1 Armorite Ore to start digging. Every successful attempt will yield at least 1 Armorite Ore, and she will ask you if you want her to continue digging. This is key, because her shovel may break during the dig, in which case you will lose all the Armorite Ores that she had found during the session along with the one that you initially gave her. If you tell her to stop, you'll receive all the Ores she dug up until that point. So to receive any Armorite Ore, you will need to tell her to stop at some point during the dig.

This is the fastest way to obtain more Armorite Ores, but is a bit risky, because Digging Ma can be difficult to find, and there's a chance her shovel will break before even finding a single Ore, in which case you will simply lose your initial investment.

On the other hand, even after her shovel breaks, she will sometimes be able to try again and continue digging.

Will Sometimes Yield 3 Armorite Ores at Once

Normally, you will only get 1 Armorite Ore per successful attempt, but sometimes a special event will occur in which she will dig up more Armorite Ore than usual. When this kicks in, Digging Ma can sometimes dig up 3 Armorite Ores in a single dig!

Receive a Piece of Ore for Free

If the player selects No when meeting Digging Ma, they will receive one piece of Armorite Ore with no risk, after which Digging Ma will disappear and reappear somewhere else on the map.

Randomly around the Isle of Armor

Digging Ma appears somewhere randomly around the map, and is not labeled on the Town Map, so the player will have to search around to try to find her. Even when she's found, she might not necessarily yield a huge return of Armorite Ore, so participating in Max Raid Battles on the Isle of Armor is a more efficient way to get Armorite Ore.

Disappears After Meeting

Whether the player selects Yes or No, Digging Ma will disappear after interacting with her, and appear somewhere else on the Isle of Armor

No Daily Limit

Although Digging Ma can be difficult to find, there's no limit on how often the player can use her services. As long as you can find her, you can keep trying to get more Armorite Ore, though she will disappear after each time. While on the hunt for 150 Alolan Digletts, Max Mushrooms or Apricorns, keep an eye out for Digging Ma as well!
