Competitive Analysis

Curse when used by a non-ghost type Pokemon decreases Speed by one stage but increases Attack and Defense by one stage. This can be useful for teams that do not focus on speed too much, or for Trick Room teams as well.

However, when Curse is used by a Ghost-type Pokemon, the ghost loses 1/2 of its Maximum HP but deals the Cursed Status Condition where the target is dealt damage 1/4 of its Maximum HP every turn. This becomes a move if the player is willing to risk: high risk of knocking out your Pokemon with the high reward of being able to knock-out the opponent's Pokemon.
