Competitive Analysis

Using Charge has two effects. It powers up an Electric-type move if it is used on the next turn and it raises the user's Special Defense stat.

Charge's Special Defense boost is useful as it makes your Pokemon more durable against special attacks.

The same cannot always be said on the Electric attack boost as you need to keep on using Charge before every attack, wasting turns that could otherwise be used for other strategies.

Application on Roles

Charge fits better on defensive Pokemon as every use of the move will raise its Special Defense, while having the capability of dealing some damage with Electric-type moves.

As for offensive Pokemon, it is better to use other stat-raising moves to boost your Attack or Special Attack as it will benefit you in the long run rather than just for the next turn.

Charge Locations

Charge is only available by Default, Level Up, or Egg Move.
