How to Unlock Petrifying Gaze

Complete the The Black Nacre and the All-Devouring Kraken Quest

To unlock Petrifying Gaze, you must have completed the previous subquest of Daiya's Three-Day Reverie, The Black Nacre and the All-Devouring Kraken!

You can unlock the quest by accessing the Thinkers' Theater area in the Veluriyam Mirage by progressing through about halfway of Secret Summer Paradise: Part III.

Listen to the Announcement

Petrifying Gaze Quest Location

Head North from the Teleport Waypoint in Thinkers' Theater and glide down towards the speakers.

Go to the Ancient Castle

Follow the Hydro Eidolon to the Ancient Castle. Along the way, Wraiths in the form of owls, will petrify the Hydro Eidolon, and you will need to block their petrifying gazes to save the Hydro Eidolon and proceed.

Owl Wraith Puzzle Solutions

	All Owl Wraith Puzzle Solutions
1	Simply interact with the nearby crate to block the Wraith and save the Hydro Eidolon.
2	Push the crate to block the first Wraith so the Hydro Eidolon can move forward. A second Wraith will then appear to petrify the Hydro Eidolon again, so push the crate a second time to proceed.
3	Destroy the boulder sitting behind the Wraith to reveal a crate. Push the crate to block the Wraith's gaze and continue forward.
4	Beside the Wraith on top of a mushroom is a feeding bowl. Place some Berries on the bowl to proceed. There is a Berry sapling nearby if you do not have some in your inventory.
5a	Two Wraiths and two crates make up this puzzle. The solution for the first part of this final puzzle is as follows: ・Push the inner box. ・Push the outer box. ・Push the inner box again.
5b	After solving the previous puzzle, another pair of Wraiths will petrify the Hydro Eidolon. The solution this time as as follows: ・Push the outer box. ・Push the inner box. ・Push the outer box again. ・Push the inner box again.

Ride the Choo-Choo Cart to the Ancient Castle

After solving the Owl Wraith puzzles, take the Choo-Choo Cart with the Hydro Eidolon and proceed to the next destination.

Follow the Lone Hydro Eidolon

Upon arrival, follow the Hydro Eidolon to a Preprint Mural and a Streaming Projector.

How to Solve Preprint Murals

Use the Streaming Projector to Get the Key

	How to Get the Key to the Castle's Secret Chamber
1	Before entering the Streaming Projector, push the nearby crate all the way to block the Wraith's gaze.
2	Enter the Preprint via the Streaming Projector and open the chests. This level is fairly linear so you just need to avoid the petrifying gazes.
3	After opening two chests, a third will appear and a petrifying gaze will come after you and boot you out of the Preprint. Do not worry as it is scripted and you will be treated with a cutscene on how to proceed. Return to the Preprint and open the third chest.

Open the Secret Chamber and Get the Remedy

Use they key you just obtained on the screen and open the treasure chest to get the Ancient Hex-Cleansing Remedy. Use it on the petrified Hydro Eidolon then claim the treasure chest for your efforts.
