How to Use Silver Powder

The Silver Powder has the effect of increasing the power of Bug-type Moves by 1.2x.

This can be an alternative to choice items since it does not penalize the user in using only one move. However, it is important to note that this only affects Bug-type Moves and is recommended to be used by Bug-type Pokemon that benefit from STAB.

Silver Powder vs Choice Item

For Bug-type attackers, you may have a hard time choosing on what item you should use. Both Silver Powder and either Choice Band or Choice Specs have pros and cons.

Advantage Disadvantage
Silver Powder ・20% damage boost to Bug-type moves
・Can use all moves
・Only boost Bug-type moves
Choice Band or Choice Specs ・50% boost to Atk/Sp.Atk ・Locked to one move

The best item for your Pokemon will depend on what you are planning to do with its moveset.

Opt for a Choice item if you're planning to use only one Bug-type move for your attack. Choose Silver Powder if you think you need to use other moves besides your main Bug-type attack.
