Competitive Analysis

Phantom Force takes two turns to initiate, and has the secondary effect of hitting even if the target protects itself. This can be very useful with its decent base power and its ability to hit protection moves which are prevalent in the current meta.

Keep in mind that while strong, the opposing Pokemon may simply switch into a Normal-type Pokemon to take advantage of the type immunity. Shadow Claw is a good alternative; though weaker, it doesn't take two turns to deal damage.
