How to Get Scarred Scale

Acquire From Apar Material Retrieval

Scarred Scale can be acquired from Material Retrieval with Apar, who becomes available for this function after completing the Lurking Shadows quest in Chapter 4.

Material Retrieval allows players to choose a material for an NPC to gather, which they will do so automatically. Players can claim these items from Nata after a while, with a chance for rare items like the Scarred Scale to be gathered.

Acquire Scarred Scale From Sekka or Gawdygog

Scarred Scale can also be acquired from Sekka and Gawdygog through trading. However, note that trader inventory rotates daily in-game, so try rechecking at a later time or resting first if the item you're looking for doesn't show.

You Need Large Goldenscale Vase or Ancient Wyvern Coins

You can trade either 10 Ancient Wyvern Coins with Gawdygog or 1 Large Goldenscale Vase with Sekka to obtain one Scarred Scale. Trading with Sekka seems to be the more efficient way of farming Scarred Scales, so be sure to grab Large Goldenscale Vases from Remarkable Relic nodes in Iceshard Cliffs.

Keep in mind that there is a Trade Limit when exchanging with traders, so you will have to return to Sekka or Gawdygog once the stock refreshes to trade for Scarred Scales again.

Obtaining a Scarred Scale will unlock the option to forge the Battle Armor Set at the blacksmith. It is then used to forge the individual armor pieces along with other materials such as Frozen Icebone, Colosal Bone, Dragonbone Relic, and Blango Pelt+.
