Competitive Analysis

One of the iconic moves of the Ground-type is Dig, which makes the user semi-invulnerable on the first turn, enabling it to dodge moves almost any moves once it is underground.

It might seem promising, but repeated usage of Dig makes your plays very predictable. Additionally, Pokemon that are on the semi-invulnerable phase of the move will receive double damage from Earthquake, a fairly common move in the metagame.

Pokemon with the No Guard Ability are also able to hit Dig users that are burrowed underground.
