How to Catch Zamazenta with High IVs

Things to do first

Turn off Autosave

Autosave Off
If you aim to catch a Zamazenta with high IVs and a good nature, be sure that you first press X and go into Options, then turn Autosave Off. With Autosave off, you will be able to reroll each time to aim for the best Zamazenta obtainable.

Set your Text Speed to Fast

Text Speed Fast
There will be a wall of text to pass through after completing the battle with the Legendary Pokemon Zamazenta. Setting your text speed to Fast will significantly reduce the time required to get through this process.

Steps to Catching Zamazenta

1. Save your progress in front of Zamazenta
2. Speak with Zamazenta and initiate battle
3. Throw your Master Ball
4. Proceed throught the dialogue and finish the event
5. Check its stats
We recommend Impish or Careful!

Note: After finishing, speaking with Hop deep within Slumbering Weald will trigger another event.

Aim for the Impish or Careful Nature!

Zamazenta
Zamazenta's ability Dauntless Shield will allow it to start battle with its Defense stat raised. Obtaining a Zamazenta with an Impish or Careful Nature will further its rock solid defense by increasing the growth of its Defense of Sp. Defense stats.

Save your progress right in front of Zamazenta

Zamazenta
In order to initiate combat with Zamazenta, you first need to speak with it. This means that no matter how close to it you get, nothing will happen, so if you plan on rerolling for the best Zamazenta, save your progress as close to Zamazenta as possible.

How to Change Zamazenta's Forms

Make Zamazenta hold the Rusted Shield and enter battle

Hero of Many Battles Crowned Shield
Zamazenta Zamazenta

Giving Zamazenta its signature item Rusted Shield and entering battle will make its form change. When caught, it will not actually be in its transformed state automatically. Since Rusted Shield is a Key Item every player of Pokemon Shield will already have, it will be very simple to change its form to the Crowned Shield version.
