You can find the three little Tanuki in the Chinju Forest, one hiding as a barrel and two leading you down a path before hiding as a torch.
The First Tanuki will appear right down the Torii gate path from Ioroi, and will lead you down the path, then pretend to be a torch that you need to light up with a Pyro Character's elemental attack.
Another little Tanuki is a glowing spot on the rock in the middle of the forest, by a small statue. Both are surrounded by hilichurls you need to defeat!
The Third and last Tanuki is east of the forest, and will lead you south towards the stream. It will then turn into one of three torches, which you have to light up with another Pyro attack before they come with you!
Finding the little Tanuki is one of the objectives in the Tanuki-Bayashi in the Forest quest, which in turn is part of the Sacred Sakura Cleansing Ritual Quest Chain!
