Vespoid Shells can be obtained by carving the carcasses of Vespoids. Use your Throwing Knife to kill them without shattering their bodies. Weapons aren't recommended for killing them because they can shatter, leaving you unable to carve.
Vespoids are commonly found in areas 6, 8, and 13 of the Scarlet Forest and you can find them easily by opening your map then filter by small monsters. Set a waypoint and follow the scoutflies to their location.

Poison Smoke Bombs are a reliable way to quickly kill Vespoid swarms without shattering them. Simply stand in the middle of a swarm then use a Poison Smoke Bomb at the ground and they will fall in no time, allowing you to carve.
You can craft Poison Smoke Bombs by combining Smokenuts and Toadstools.
If you don't have the spare mats to craft Poison Smoke Bombs, you can lure Vespoids to nearby Poisoncups. Be wary though as you can get poisoned yourself!
An alternate way to reliably carve Vespoids is to use the Bulaqchi Armor Set. It has the Entomologist Skill which makes it so Vespoids do not get destroyed when killed, letting you carve them.

Vespoid Shell can be purchased from the Support Ship for 15 Guild Points when it's on stock.
The Support Ship will be available in the base camp every three in-game days, and will disappear for another three days as it gathers items to sell. You will get a prompt of the Support Ship's status when you are not in a hunt.
