How to Befriend Mao the Miser
Boost His Ideas for New Work Policies and Join the Caravan
Mao the Miser is determined to reform the employment and work practices in the camel caravan. Encourage him by listening to him talk about his ideas and joining the caravan to befriend his AI.
Example of Successful Conversation
(tipsy, hiccuping and jabbing the air) Hiring these days is a filthy mess—hic—six days on, one day off, working from Chen hour clear to Hai hour, no benefits at all, and still demanding ten years of experience! Bah! I, Mao the Miser—hic—will fix this rot myself! My Caravan works four days and rests three! Now tell me, are you joining or not? |
 Four days of work and three rest days? That's inspiring! Count me in! |

(squints, sways, and pounds the table) You got it, my friend! Welcome aboard! (hic) Starting at Wu hour, mandatory off at Mao hour—no one stays past that, not even me! Ready to start? |

The sobered Mao Buba begins barking orders at the caravan workers. (Affection +100, becomes Revered) |

How to Succeed in AI Chat
Reset Dialogue When Stuck
If your conversation has gone off the rails, or doesn't end no matter what you say, it's best to simply reset and start anew from a clean slate by clicking the button with a Refresh icon at the top of the chat box. Instead of trying several methods within one conversation, trying one strategy at a time and refreshing if it doesn't go anywhere is generally more effective.
Return to Login Screen if Combat Begins
Sometimes, NPCs will suddenly become violent during AI dialogues. When this happens, it's best to just bail out to the login screen; when you return, the NPC will be found just as they were before the conversation started.
If you accidentally kill a dialogue-capable NPC, our experience has shown that they will respawn, but this has not been heavily tested, so it's best to simply avoid engaging them in combat.
Double-Check the Hint
Even if the NPC appears to be happy with the result of your discussion, this won't always end the dialogue. Double-checking the text written in the hint will imply the win condition, so try strategies which will lead the dialogue towards that result.
