How to Play Mahjong top
In Where Winds Meet, mahjong is played as a minigame in guilds, online matchmaking, and with NPC encounters. Read on to learn the game mechanics of mahjong.

How to Play Mahjong

Step by Step Guide

# Step by Step Guide
1 How To Start
All players are given 13 tiles. Players then must immediately declare one suit (Characters, Dots, or Bamboo) as their Missing Suit. Tiles of this suit will not be calculated in your points, so make sure to discard them.
All Tile Types
2 Who Starts The Game
The dealer will be selected randomly, and he will start with an extra tile. He will be the first to discard a tile, with the turn going clockwise around the table.
3 What To Do In Your Turn
You will be drawing a new tile, or you can pick up the tile discarded by other players. Then, you will have a 20-second window to choose which tile to discard. Keep in mind the goal to create tile combinations.
Tile Combinations
4 How to Score
You can score from discarded tiles. Pong will be an option when you have 3 of a kind, while Kong is when you have 4 of a kind. These tiles will be revealed and placed on your side. However, if you prefer not to reveal your tiles, you may have the choice to skip on it by choosing Guo.
5 How to Win
The first player to complete 4 groups and 1 pair wins the game. When no one completes it as the deck of tiles gets emptied, the tiles you hold and the revealed ones will be calculated and scored. The person with the highest points wins.

In choosing your missing suit, having a different choice from your enemies is a huge advantage. As it will let you have less competition in discarded tiles of a certain suit, and they will be less likely to keep your pursued tiles hidden.

Additionally, the game will have suggestions on which suit of tiles to select as a missing suit. It will be marked in your live deck with darker shades.

Chi
Three Consecutive Cards
Pong

Kong
Four of a Kind

You may proceed with a Pong, Chi, or Kong even if it is not yet your turn. It adds to the challenge to be alert to what other players are discarding.

Win Conditions

Make four sets and one pair using at least two suits.
4 Groups Three of a kind or a straight of three.
1 Pair Two cards of the same rank.

The game will continue even if a player wins by completing this condition. The remaining players will battle it out for second, third, and last place.
