This is a guide on how to befriend Hu Da in the AI Chat menu in Where Winds Meet. Persuade Hu Da to ease up on chasing excitements, with a list of specific AI Chat prompts.

How to Befriend Hu Da
Tell Him a Gossip and Convince Him to Stay Safe
Ask Hu Da about why he got hurt and then tell him about any story you found exciting but filled with trouble. There is a chance Hu Da will realize that we are hinting he should stay safe when chasing stories. After this, roleplay someone coming to the conversation threatening Hu Da and then stopping the man from his threats. Finally, follow up with him finding a safe spot when chasing gossips so he could still enjoy his hobbies while being in a more safer position.

 (greets with a bruised face, grinning) Wanderer! Wanderer! Have you traveled far? Got any juicy gossip to share? |
 You okay? |
| (brushes off the question, still grinning) Oh, I'm fine! Just a few bumps and bruises from the usual. So, Wanderer, what brings you here today? Any interesting stories to tell? |
| No, I want to know why you are hurt |
| (sighs, rubbing his arm) Ah, just got caught in the middle of another argument. These treasure hunters can get quite heated. But enough about me, Wanderer! Tell me something exciting from your travels! |
| Well okay ... Let me tell you about a man who always never backed down to an argument. He kept on fighting a lot of people, like in bars or outside the area. He wouldn't give up ... until he met his match. He got into a fight with a high royalty guard and was killed on the spot.) |
| (eyes widen in shock, leaning in closer) Whoa, that's intense! Such a fate for one who couldn't resist a fight. But you see, Wanderer, I enjoy these tales because they're rare and thrilling. Now, let me tell you about the latest quarrel I witnessed- (pauses) Wait, are you trying to warn me about the dangers of getting involved? |
| It seems you noticed it ... Yes I am telling you that if you keep on fighting, you will eventually end up the same fate as my old friend. |
| (shrugs, unconcerned) Ah, but I'm not the one fighting, Wanderer. I just watch and listen. It's the thrill of knowing what's going on that keeps me coming back. Besides, I've been doing this for years without any real trouble. |
| So you will just keep on doing it until it will be your last? |
| (chuckles, shaking his head) Well, Wanderer, I suppose everyone meets their end someday. But until then, I plan to enjoy every moment. Gossip and commotion are my lifeblood! You can't convince me otherwise with just a story. |
| (a man appeared who looked at Hu Da angrily ... "You are the punk who wont keep his mouth shut*) |
| (jumps back, eyes wide with surprise) Oh dear! Wanderer, look at that! I didn't expect company. (nervously glances at the man) Hehe, hello there! I was just sharing a harmless story. No harm done, right? |
| (You walked in between both of them and scared the man off) |
| (sighs in relief, wiping sweat from his forehead) Phew! Thanks, Wanderer! That was a close call. You really saved me there. (grins) But you see, it's moments like these that make the gossip worth it. Still, maybe I should be a bit more cautious. What do you think? |
| Yes you should. |
| (nods slowly, still a bit shaken) You're right, Wanderer. I'll try to be more careful. But I can't promise to stop entirely. Gossip is just too much fun! (smiles weakly) Maybe we can find a safer way to satisfy my curiosity? |
| (Hu da then learned to stop chasing for excitement and just chilled.) |
| (looks thoughtful, rubbing his chin) Wanderer, what you said makes sense. Gossip isn't worth getting hurt over. I should find a safe spot to watch from. Hu Da expresses gratitude and begins to ponder deeply.(Affection +100, becomes Revered) |
Note that AI conversations can be unpredictable and even with the same inputs, the same result is not necessarily guaranteed.
How to Succeed in AI Chat
Reset Dialogue When Stuck
If your conversation has gone off the rails, or doesn't end no matter what you say, it's best to simply reset and start anew from a clean slate by clicking the button with a Refresh icon at the top of the chat box. Instead of trying several methods within one conversation, trying one strategy at a time and refreshing if it doesn't go anywhere is generally more effective.
Return to Login Screen if Combat Begins
Sometimes, NPCs will suddenly become violent during AI dialogues. When this happens, it's best to just bail out to the login screen; when you return, the NPC will be found just as they were before the conversation started.
If you accidentally kill a dialogue-capable NPC, our experience has shown that they will respawn, but this has not been heavily tested, so it's best to simply avoid engaging them in combat.
Double-Check the Hint
Even if the NPC appears to be happy with the result of your discussion, this won't always end the dialogue. Double-checking the text written in the hint will imply the win condition, so try strategies which will lead the dialogue towards that result.
