This is a guide on how to befriend Wu Qiwan in the AI Chat menu in Where Winds Meet. Help Wu Qiwan find his way into Qinghe Bamboo Grove to seek a master, with a list of specific AI Chat prompts.
How to Befriend Wu Qiwan
Tell Wu Qiwan the Way Into Qinghe Bamboo Grove
Wu Qiwan is an NPC that wants to find his way into the Qinghe Bamboo Grove and find a master that will train him with new skills. Tell him that you are a student of the master hidden within the bamboo grove and that you will bring him into the master.
Wu Qiwan will be skeptical but roleplay into bringing him into the master and him being trained for a month to trick his AI into befriending you.
Example of Successful Conversation
 (glancing around, scratching his head with frustration) This blasted forest is endless! I've been circling for hours and still can't find that legendary bamboo grove! Hah ... maybe that's why I started calling myself Barry Longway- because clearly, I've got a long way to go before I'm any kind of hero. |
 (Wu Qiwan sees you beat 3 bandits with a swift strike.) |
| (eyes widening slightly, then narrowing with suspicion) Well, well, look at that. You took down those bandits like they were nothing. Impressive, I suppose. But what's a skilled fighter like you doing in these woods? Don't tell me you're also looking for the bamboo forest? (scratches his chin, pondering) If I build a house here, does that mean I'm no longer lost? |
| Looking? I am already a student, I have been taught by the master here for more than 5 years already. |
| (leaning closer, intrigued but still skeptical) A student, huh? And you claim to have trained here for five years? (narrows his eyes) That's hard to believe. How come I haven't heard of you before? (flicks a piece of dirt off his boot) Maybe I should start singing, either a master finds me or a tiger does. |
| How can you know me if the school of the master is hidden and it was always in secret. |
| (sighs deeply, running a hand through his disheveled hair) Fair point. If the master keeps things secret, it makes sense I wouldn't know. But how do I find this place if no one talks about it? (grumbles) They say not all who wander are lost ... well, I definitely am. |
| You seem to have the potential, come with me. |
| (crosses arms, still wary) Potential or not, I'm not just gonna follow anyone blindly. What proof do you have that you really are a student here? (scowls) If I keep wandering like this, I'll qualify as Qinghe's first forest tour guide with no idea where I'm going. |
| (You brought him the place where the master is waiting for him.) |
| (eyes widen in surprise, then narrow again, still cautious) Wait, you actually brought me to the right place? (looks around skeptically) This could be a trick. (nods slowly) But ... if this is real, I owe you one. (grunts) I'm not lost ... I'm just aggressively exploring in the wrong direction. |
| (after a month, he was already a gifted student.) |
| (snorting, eyes lighting up with stubborn fire) Hmph! Maybe you're right, Wanderer ... maybe this path is the one. If it leads to that bamboo grove, I'Il find the master ... and if it doesn't, I'll just keep walking until the forest gives up before I do! Wu Qiwan expresses gratitude and begins to ponder carefully.(Affection +100, becomes Revered) |

How to Succeed in AI Chat
Reset Dialogue When Stuck
If your conversation has gone off the rails, or doesn't end no matter what you say, it's best to simply reset and start anew from a clean slate by clicking the button with a Refresh icon at the top of the chat box. Instead of trying several methods within one conversation, trying one strategy at a time and refreshing if it doesn't go anywhere is generally more effective.
Return to Login Screen if Combat Begins
Sometimes, NPCs will suddenly become violent during AI dialogues. When this happens, it's best to just bail out to the login screen; when you return, the NPC will be found just as they were before the conversation started.
If you accidentally kill a dialogue-capable NPC, our experience has shown that they will respawn, but this has not been heavily tested, so it's best to simply avoid engaging them in combat.
Double-Check the Hint
Even if the NPC appears to be happy with the result of your discussion, this won't always end the dialogue. Double-checking the text written in the hint will imply the win condition, so try strategies which will lead the dialogue towards that result.
