Triggers While Traversing Mistveil Forest

The Ephemeral Blight Map Location

This Encounter triggers as you traverse Mistveil Forest. To start the quest, follow the marker to the objective. You will be poisoned by Dawn-to-Dusk Venomous Mist as you approach the forest. After passing out, you will wake up in the Wishing Cove with Zhai Xu.

  2. Find the Mistveil Forest Cures
  3. Go to the Source of the Plague
  4. Explore the Hidden Lair
  5. Deduce Clues on the Lair and the Plague

1. Talk to Zhai Xu in the Wishing Cove

WWM - Take the Broken Jade Pendant
After being poisoned, you will wake up in the Wishing Cove, treated by Zhai Xu. Pick up the Broken Jade Pendant from the ground before talking to Zhai Xu about the plague of Dawn-to-Dusk Blossoms.

WWM - Distract Zhai Xu with the Wind Chime
Attempt to secretly read Zhai Xu's notes. To distract him, ring the wind chime hanging from the window with Meridian Touch. Once he leaves, take the Mistveil Forest Cure: Wishing Cove and the Thousand-Wish Amendment.

WWM - Read the Thousand-Wish Amendment
Bid farewell to Zhai Xu, then leave the Wishing Cove. Open your Bag and go to the Quest tab to read the Thousand-Wish Amendment. To find the last two-thirds of the Mistveil Forest Cure, you need to locate them in Hollow Vale and Aureate Pavilion.

2. Find the Mistveil Forest Cures

Both Mistveil Forest Cures are located in Mistveil Forest. The Hollow Vale Cure is found west of the forest while the Aureate Pavilion Cure is on the northeast side of the subregion.

Mistveil Forest Cure: Hollow Vale

WWM - Head Inside the Hollow Vale Building
Head to the western side of Mistveil Forest. You will see an encampment with Disciples. You cannot fight anyone here, so you must sneak inside to get the cure notes. Stealthily run up the tree to enter the building through the window.

WWM - Take the Mistveil Forest Cure - Hollow Vale Notes
On the second floor, assassinate the Disciple with Touch of Death. Head downstairs and assassinate the Disciple there too. Take the Mistveil Forest Cure: Hollow Vale notes from the large desk.

WWM - Underground Hollow Vale Lair
To the side of the room is a glowing coffin. You can climb down to enter an underground lair and learn the Soulshade Umbrella martial art from the Head Disciple. There are also six chests you can find inside.

Mistveil Forest Cure: Aureate Pavilion

WWM - Find the Cure in Aureate Pavilion
Head northeast of Mistveil Forest, where you can activate the North Mistveil Forest Boundary Stone. The cure notes are in an Aureate Pavilion outpost, found in a small building with a burning pot. You are not required to fight all enemies in the area.

WWM - Take the Mistveil Forest Cure - Aureate Pavilion
Take the Mistveil Forest Cure: Aureate Pavilion inside the building, where it is placed beside a corpse on a bed.

WWM - Submit the Cure Notes to Zhai Xu
With both cure notes gathered, return to Zhai Xu in the Wishing Cove and submit all notes to him. He will tell you to meet him again after two in-game days. Change the time in your menu to hasten the wait.

3. Go to the Source of the Plague

3.1
WWM - FInd Zhai Xu in North Mistveil Forest
After two days, read the note in Zhai Xu's cabin. Meet Zhai Xu under a shack in North Mistveil Forest, near the Aureate Pavilion outpost you visited before.

WWM - Venture Deeper into the Forest
Venture into the forest to find the source of the plague. While following the objective marker, stay close to the torches flanking the path to avoid accumulating Venomous Mist. Defeat the Sleeping Puppets on the way.

WWM - Defeat Guards in Mistveil Forest
At a camp, defeat the Aureate Pavilion guards. Stay close to the bonfire at the center to avoid being poisoned by Venomous Mist.

WWM - Burn Dawn-to-Dusk Blossoms
Proceed further into the forest and burn the Dawn-to-Dusk Blossoms with fire arrows to clear the path. You have to burn them quickly or else they will sprout again. Activate the Central Mistveil Forest Boundary Stone past the gate.

WWM - Investigate the Area
Investigate the area with the large tree with hanging corpses. After investigating the last point of interest, burn the three Dawn-to-Dusk Blossoms on the tree and eliminate all Sleeping Puppets.

WWM - Touch the Shadowy Figure
A shadowy figure will suddenly appear. Touching them makes them vanish and reappear along a path. Follow them to an abandoned cabin.

4. Explore the Hidden Lair

4.1
WWM - Burn Blossoms in Hidden Lair
While you can follow the objective inside the cabin, you can make navigation easier with the Glow of Fireflies Mystic Skill. In a tunnel with a chest, watch out for Sleeping Puppets. Burn more Blossoms to enter the hidden lair.

WWM - Defeat Sleeping Puppets in Hidden Lair
Defeat more Sleeping Puppets in the lair. After they are all eliminated, burn the Dawn-to-Dusk Blossoms to clear the path ahead.

WWM - Take Sun Buqi
In an area with a non-hostile Sleeping Puppet, find Sun Buqi's Notes in the makeshift house.

5. Deduce Clues on the Lair and the Plague

WWM - Deduce Clues on the Lair and the Plague

Piece together what you know about the hidden lair and the nature of the plague.

Sun's Note: Dawn-to-Dusk Toxin ↔ The cold poison is brewed here, where spirits and dreams are crushed.

6. Destroy the Plague's Source

6.1
WWM - Give the Broken Jade Pendant to the Sleeping Puppet
You will learn that after you passed out from the Venomous Mist, it was the Sleeping Puppet that saved you. Give the Sleeping Puppet the Broken Jade Pendant. You can still give the pendant after killing the Puppet.

WWM - Destroy the Source of the Plague
The shadowy figure will appear again, looking into a pit with three Dawn-to-Dusk Blossoms. Burn them to end the plague. Leaving the lair, you will see that the fog covering Mistveil Forest is finally gone from the map.

WWM - Return to Zhai Xu
Return to the Wishing Cove and talk to Zhai Xu to end the quest. After completing this Encounter, you will no longer be poisoned by Venomous Mist in Mistveil Forest.
