This is a guide on how to befriend Bu Jiefeng in the AI Chat menu in Where Winds Meet. Figure out what's happening with the cats around her with a list of specific AI Chat prompts.
How to Befriend Bu Jiefeng
Get Her to Play with the Cats
Bu Jiefeng is confused why she's being surrounded and followed by the cats. Assure her that the cats just want attention and that she should play with them to successfully befriend her.
Example of Successful Conversation
(watching the cats) These cats are unbearably noisy. Ever since I unlocked the Animal Whisperer skill, my ears have been filled with nonstop "O-i-i-a-i-o, o-i-i-i-a-i, o-i-i-a-i-o, o-i-i-i, o-i-i-i", and I can barely get a moment of peace! Don't they know moderation?! |
 The cats look excited to talk to you! Maybe you can tell them when they can talk to you so they know when it's okay. |

(rubbing her forehead) Wanderer, these cats cling to me nonstop, and none of what they say makes any sense! One of them keeps chirping "nyanyanyan nyan nyan nyan" over and over, and no matter how I listen, it's complete nonsense to me! |
| Try speaking to them gently, they may just be overjoyed to see you. |

(thinking hard) Could it be that they're speaking some forgotten divine tongue? Look at that cat over there, spinning in circles while chanting "bongo bongo bongo" without stopping, acting suspicious of everything while suspecting absolutely nothing at all—won't it get dizzy?! Ahhhh! I really cannot understand these cats! |

(gesturing toward a distant cat) Wanderer, look over there! That cat keeps hopping in place shouting "happy happy joy joy", and another one keeps nudging into me again and again—Wanderer, do you think they're trying to send me some kind of signal? |
| They are just excited kittens that long for affection and attention. Their meows may just be signs that they enjoy your company. |

(frowning in thought) And there are certain sounds that keep repeating, like "beep-beep-boop-boop," "mambo," and other odd noises like that—could it be that my Animal Whisperer skill is lacking, causing the meanings to twist in my ears? That shouldn't be possible... Wanderer, what do you think these cats are really trying to say? |
| They're trying to say that they want your affection and attention! Try giving them a pet and some assurance! |

(staring in shock) Wanderer, you recognize those sounds too?! Don't tell me you've been hearing them as well—cats everywhere keep chanting things like "nyan" and "bongo", as if they hold great meaning, but no matter how hard I think, I can't understand them at all! |

How to Succeed in AI Chat
Reset Dialogue When Stuck
If your conversation has gone off the rails, or doesn't end no matter what you say, it's best to simply reset and start anew from a clean slate by clicking the button with a Refresh icon at the top of the chat box. Instead of trying several methods within one conversation, trying one strategy at a time and refreshing if it doesn't go anywhere is generally more effective.
Return to Login Screen if Combat Begins
Sometimes, NPCs will suddenly become violent during AI dialogues. When this happens, it's best to just bail out to the login screen; when you return, the NPC will be found just as they were before the conversation started.
If you accidentally kill a dialogue-capable NPC, our experience has shown that they will respawn, but this has not been heavily tested, so it's best to simply avoid engaging them in combat.
Double-Check the Hint
Even if the NPC appears to be happy with the result of your discussion, this won't always end the dialogue. Double-checking the text written in the hint will imply the win condition, so try strategies which will lead the dialogue towards that result.
