This is a guide on how to befriend Boss Qian in the AI Chat menu in Where Winds Meet. Help Boss Qian recover stolen goods and prevent future robberies, with a list of specific AI Chat prompts.
How to Befriend Boss Qian
Confront the Bandits and Return the Stolen Goods
Roleplay as if you are returning the stolen goods of Boss Qian and tell him that you have confronted them. Tell him that you have contacted your friends as guards to make sure that no traveler would get harmed.
Example of Successful Conversation
 (pacing slowly, brows furrowed, voice steady but strained) Alas ... that shipment was the fruit of months of toil. To lose it so suddenly ... it feels like a blade to the heart. But hey, I'm just a chill guy ... r-right? |
 Hey! Are you okay? |
| (looking up, forcing a smile) Ah, thank you for asking, wanderer. I'm managing, despite the setback. The loss of my goods has left me quite perturbed. Any thoughts on how to handle such threats in the future? |
| Wait is this yours? (You showed him goods that look like it belongs to him) |
| (eyes widening, reaching out tentatively) By the heavens! Those are indeed mine! How did you come across them? |
| (You told him about encountering some bandits who were running away with stolen goods.) |
| (frowning, nodding slowly) So you confronted those scoundrels and retrieved my goods? That is indeed commendable. But we must be cautious; they are many and ruthless. Do you have any plans to deal with them further? |
| (You told him that you contacted your friends as guards in this part of the road, to make sure that no traveler would get harmed by others.) |
| (nods firmly, a faint smile breaking through) Thank you, Wanderer. I am truly grateful. Calm minds prevail ... or at least pretend to. Boss Qian expresses gratitude and begins to ponder deeply.(Affection +100, becomes Revered) |

How to Succeed in AI Chat
Reset Dialogue When Stuck
If your conversation has gone off the rails, or doesn't end no matter what you say, it's best to simply reset and start anew from a clean slate by clicking the button with a Refresh icon at the top of the chat box. Instead of trying several methods within one conversation, trying one strategy at a time and refreshing if it doesn't go anywhere is generally more effective.
Return to Login Screen if Combat Begins
Sometimes, NPCs will suddenly become violent during AI dialogues. When this happens, it's best to just bail out to the login screen; when you return, the NPC will be found just as they were before the conversation started.
If you accidentally kill a dialogue-capable NPC, our experience has shown that they will respawn, but this has not been heavily tested, so it's best to simply avoid engaging them in combat.
Double-Check the Hint
Even if the NPC appears to be happy with the result of your discussion, this won't always end the dialogue. Double-checking the text written in the hint will imply the win condition, so try strategies which will lead the dialogue towards that result.
