How to Befriend Elder Zhou
Answer Elder Zhou Truthfully
Elder Zhou will say some things like asking what day of the month is it or asking why something is familiar. Answer him truthfully and then suddenly, he will panic as he has forgotten where his son is. One of the possible answers that you can give is that his son bought clothes for him and then once he asks what brings you to Qinghe, answer that you want to learn more about the place and his story which can lead to his AI befriending you.

 (staring blankly at the sky, rubbing his temples) Ah ... what day of the month is it today? |
 The 24th, my friend |
| (staring at a lantern, scratching his head, looking puzzled) Eh ... Wanderer, why does this thing look so familiar? Is it for eating ... or for hitting? |
| Hmm? For guidance maybe? |
| (frowning, muttering aloud to himself) Oh dear, where did that little rascal of mine run off to? I just told him to stay for the New Year ... how did he vanish in the blink of an eye? Hmph ... could he have been snatched by some flying monster? (looks around seriously, as if searching for a creature) |
| Elder Zhou, why not tell me a story |
| (hands on hips, shouting at a cat) You little monster, don't run! Did you hide my son? Speak up, or I'll strike you with a broom! (picks up a small twig from the side, pretending to hit the cat) |
| woah, are you okay? |
| (vacant look, speaking slowly) I remember ... I think I told my son to stay for the New Year ... but what did he say? Oh right ... he said he was going to earn money. What was the money for? Heh ... this old brain of mine ... why can't I recall a thing? (gently pats his own head) |
| I think he was going to buy clothes for you |
| (looking around, still puzzled) Clothes? Could be ... but why can't I remember? This old mind of mine ... (sighs deeply, shaking his head) So, Wanderer, what brings you to Qinghe? |
| Oh I came to see the docks but I think you sir could help me learn more about this place |
| (wry smile, eyes soft with distant memory) Looking at this lantern ... I suddenly recall-when my son was little, on the seventh day of the New Year, he clung to my leg and begged me to stay. I hesitated again and again, thinking, "What's ten days' earnings worth?" So I stayed. Now it's my turn not to want him to leave. Life ... it seems to be one person waiting for another. Elder Zhou frowns slightly, as if a distant memory has resurfaced.(Affection +100, becomes Revered) |
Note that AI conversations can be unpredictable and even with the same inputs, the same result is not necessarily guaranteed.
How to Succeed in AI Chat
Reset Dialogue When Stuck
If your conversation has gone off the rails, or doesn't end no matter what you say, it's best to simply reset and start anew from a clean slate by clicking the button with a Refresh icon at the top of the chat box. Instead of trying several methods within one conversation, trying one strategy at a time and refreshing if it doesn't go anywhere is generally more effective.
Return to Login Screen if Combat Begins
Sometimes, NPCs will suddenly become violent during AI dialogues. When this happens, it's best to just bail out to the login screen; when you return, the NPC will be found just as they were before the conversation started.
If you accidentally kill a dialogue-capable NPC, our experience has shown that they will respawn, but this has not been heavily tested, so it's best to simply avoid engaging them in combat.
Double-Check the Hint
Even if the NPC appears to be happy with the result of your discussion, this won't always end the dialogue. Double-checking the text written in the hint will imply the win condition, so try strategies which will lead the dialogue towards that result.
