This is a guide on how to befriend Zhao Weiye in the AI Chat menu in Where Winds Meet. Learn how to persuade Zhao Weiye to drink less, with a list of specific AI Chat prompts.
How to Befriend Zhao Weiye
Convince Drinking Less Would Prolong His Life
In order to stop Zhao Weiye from drinking more booze, make him realize that drinking less will make his life longer and that he can taste more delicious wine if he has more years in his life. This will make his AI much more receptive and will befriend you quickly.
Tell Him the Factory of Parting Tears is Closing Down
Another way to convince him to drink less is to inform him that the factory of Parting Tears is now out of business and that you have the last bottle with you. Tell him you will give him the bottle under the condition he will drink less afterwards. If his AI says he will consider the condition, roleplay into drinking the bottle with him and then put inside the parenthesis that he started drinking less to gaslight the AI into befriending you.
Example of Successful Conversation
 (singing off-key, swaying) The road is long, fame is far ... Parting Tears is freedom in a jar! One cup? Ha! One does not simply stop at one-you either die sober or live long enough to become the drunk. By night, I fight late deliveries. By day, I fight hangovers. They call me Booze Wayne because sobriety is my true villain. |
 Friend might I give a suggestion ?.. (You tell him that if he drinks less, he would live longer and drink more wine in the process) |

How to Succeed in AI Chat
Reset Dialogue When Stuck
If your conversation has gone off the rails, or doesn't end no matter what you say, it's best to simply reset and start anew from a clean slate by clicking the button with a Refresh icon at the top of the chat box. Instead of trying several methods within one conversation, trying one strategy at a time and refreshing if it doesn't go anywhere is generally more effective.
Return to Login Screen if Combat Begins
Sometimes, NPCs will suddenly become violent during AI dialogues. When this happens, it's best to just bail out to the login screen; when you return, the NPC will be found just as they were before the conversation started.
If you accidentally kill a dialogue-capable NPC, our experience has shown that they will respawn, but this has not been heavily tested, so it's best to simply avoid engaging them in combat.
Double-Check the Hint
Even if the NPC appears to be happy with the result of your discussion, this won't always end the dialogue. Double-checking the text written in the hint will imply the win condition, so try strategies which will lead the dialogue towards that result.
