After customizing your character, you will be asked to pick between two Aspiration Talents: Drunken Precision or Rhetoric Edge. These are mainly buffs that take effect during minigames.
Choose Drunken Precision for better precision in the Pitch Pot minigame. On the other hand, go for Rhetoric Edge if you want a slight advantage during the Gift of the Gab debates.

For the best experience, start out in Detailed Mode. You will benefit from the detailed explanations of the game's systems. Each feature has its own intricacies, and you will find the provided information very helpful.

We recommend that beginners choose the ARPG mode because there will be plenty of sections where you will need to move the camera extensively.
Ultimately, though, it's up to personal preferences; other players may prefer the MMORPG setting because it's what they're used to.
List of All Console and PC Controls

For players who are just starting out, the recommended difficulty is the best place to begin, as it provides a balanced level of difficulty for standard combat encounters. If it becomes too difficult, you can adjust the difficulty level at any time using the settings menu.
This will help you acclimate to the combat mechanics more quickly as you learn your combos and understand the various aspects of combat. Note that this setting doesn't affect other content apart from exploration, which has its own difficulty settings.
Difficulty Settings and Level Differences Guide
Returning players can choose Story Mode for faster progression. Since difficulty only affects enemies encountered during exploration, Story Mode is the best option if you want to finish encounters quickly.
Story Walkthrough and List of Chapters

If you're considering tackling the Legend difficulty, you'll need to decide early on because you can't switch to this difficulty once you've chosen a different one.
You also can't switch back to Legend difficulty if you decide to lower it during your playthrough, though you get to keep your progress if you decide to continue.
Given these restrictions, selecting Legend indicates your commitment to playing at this difficulty level. If you're up for the challenge and want to earn the unique badges and identifiers you receive during your playthrough, start with the Legend difficulty.

For total immersion, the Solo Wanderer is the best option, as it allows you to focus entirely on the game's world and story. If you prefer a more connected social experience, choose Shared Journey.
There isn't a wrong option because it all comes down to individual preference. You can freely change this option later, so you can switch to any of them at any time.
