This is a guide on how to befriend Lie Buxi in the AI Chat menu in Where Winds Meet. Learn how to befriend Lie Buxi by obtaining her father's letter, with a list of specific AI Chat prompts.
How to Befriend Lie Buxi
Complete Echoes of Old Battles
In order to befriend Lie Buxi, you must rescue her brothers and get Lie Yan's Final Words at the last room in the ruins of the Battlecrest Scope which you can explore during Echoes of Old Battles.
This quest involves you defeating bandits and Zhang Bao, as well as lighting the correct contraptions. You will also need to solve puzzles underground in order to proceed to the final room.
After completing the side quest, go back to Lie Buxi to report your findings.

| (squinting, considering his words carefully) Alone, you say? That doesn't sound right. They usually stick together. But if you're telling the truth, I'Il consider it. Lead the way, but stay close and keep quiet. We need to be careful. |
| They're alone together in the ruins. Follow me, I'll lead you there. |
| (nodding, but still wary) Alright, Wanderer. I'll follow you, but if this is a trick, I won't hesitate to defend myself. Where exactly are we headed? |

You can also choose to not do the quest and just be stubborn during your conversation with NPCs until they give in.

How to Succeed in AI Chat
Reset Dialogue When Stuck
If your conversation has gone off the rails, or doesn't end no matter what you say, it's best to simply reset and start anew from a clean slate by clicking the button with a Refresh icon at the top of the chat box. Instead of trying several methods within one conversation, trying one strategy at a time and refreshing if it doesn't go anywhere is generally more effective.
Return to Login Screen if Combat Begins
Sometimes, NPCs will suddenly become violent during AI dialogues. When this happens, it's best to just bail out to the login screen; when you return, the NPC will be found just as they were before the conversation started.
If you accidentally kill a dialogue-capable NPC, our experience has shown that they will respawn, but this has not been heavily tested, so it's best to simply avoid engaging them in combat.
Double-Check the Hint
Even if the NPC appears to be happy with the result of your discussion, this won't always end the dialogue. Double-checking the text written in the hint will imply the win condition, so try strategies which will lead the dialogue towards that result.

I had no Idea what happened to her brothers or father, I just gaslit and fabricated evidence of them being burnt alive, with proof(said I found their keepsakes or they had a picture of her) then she asked to find the bandits and I just did some RP to the finish of finding and killing them. It somehow worked but might be a lot more effort to do it this way
