Believe Small Chisel's Gossip
Small Chisel loves gossiping about people so make sure to encourage him to tell more gossips and believe them so he'll have an easier time befriending you. You should also try to tell your own gossip even if it's just roleplaying to trick Small Chisel's AI.
Example of Successful Conversation
 (leaning in with a sly grin, voice lowered) Customer, have you heard of Master Xu, who calls himself "Miaofa Rulai"? |
 (Grins) Ohh please tell me more |
| (whispering, glancing around) Well, this so-called "Miaofa Rulai" is nothing but a swindler. There's a lady in town named Aunt Tian who fell for his tricks. She spent fifty taels on five hundred bottles of his so-called "Sweet Dew," thinking it would heal her husband's ailments. Can you believe it? |
| How evil can he be to target a gullible old woman |
| (nodding solemnly, leaning closer) Exactly! Poor Aunt Tian, she was desperate to help her husband. When the "Sweet Dew" didn't work, she went back to demand a refund. But Master Xu refused, claiming he was "enforcing heavenly law." It's outrageous! |

| (clearing his throat, tone cheerful)Well, I've said enough for today! If you've got time another day, come find me, we'll have a good chat! Small Chisel hurries off to take care of something. Chat with him on another day.(Affection +100, becomes Revered) |
Note that AI conversations can be unpredictable and even with the same inputs, the same result is not necessarily guaranteed.
How to Succeed in AI Chat
Reset Dialogue When Stuck
If your conversation has gone off the rails, or doesn't end no matter what you say, it's best to simply reset and start anew from a clean slate by clicking the button with a Refresh icon at the top of the chat box. Instead of trying several methods within one conversation, trying one strategy at a time and refreshing if it doesn't go anywhere is generally more effective.
Return to Login Screen if Combat Begins
Sometimes, NPCs will suddenly become violent during AI dialogues. When this happens, it's best to just bail out to the login screen; when you return, the NPC will be found just as they were before the conversation started.
If you accidentally kill a dialogue-capable NPC, our experience has shown that they will respawn, but this has not been heavily tested, so it's best to simply avoid engaging them in combat.
Double-Check the Hint
Even if the NPC appears to be happy with the result of your discussion, this won't always end the dialogue. Double-checking the text written in the hint will imply the win condition, so try strategies which will lead the dialogue towards that result.
