How to Animation Cancel

Dodge in Any Direction

You can animation cancel certain attacks by pressing dodge to perform a backdash or by adding a directional input to dodge in a specific direction.

You can use the animation cancel to dodge an incoming attack or to cancel your combo if you need to run in the opposite direction.

Perform a Parry

You can animation cancel attacks by parrying, which allows you to perform a counterattack. This is quite handy because it minimizes the DPS downtime caused by blocking or parrying.

Used To Cancel Attacks and Perform Another Action

Animation canceling is a mechanic that allows you to interrupt an ongoing attack animation with a parry or dodge. This enables you to perform a different action.

This has a multitude of uses. You can mainly use it as a defensive tool or to quickly reposition yourself during combat and continue attacking from another angle.

Applicable to Most but Not All

Most basic attacks, charge attacks, and martial arts skills can be canceled using an animation cancel. However, some skills cannot be animation canceled, such as the Nameless Sword and Nameless Spear's Dual-Weapon skill.
