This is a guide on how to befriend Mountain Dweller in the AI Chat menu in Where Winds Meet. Help Mountain Dweller find a way forward so he can leave the mountains and build his own home, with a list of specific AI Chat prompts.
How to Befriend Mountain Dweller
Give Mountain Dweller a Wooden Arrow
Befriending Mountain Dweller is easy as you only need to roleplay giving him wooder arrows so he can start his trading journey.
Example of Successful Conversation
 (face wreathed in smiles, eyes sparkling with excitement) Hey! Since you're here, lend me a hand, will you? I'm planning to trade a wooden arrow for a house ... just need your crucial help to get started. If this works out, l'll remember your kindness forever! |

| (stands with hands clasped behind his back, gazing into the distance) This world has been in chaos since I was a child. As far back as I can remember, I was fleeing from war with my parents ... never a place to settle, always wandering. Building a house requires more than what I have right now. A wooden arrow is all I need to start my journey. |
| No let me pay for it! Just pick a location where we can build it. |
| (voice softens, eyes clouded with sorrow) Alas ... later my father passed away, and my mother and I didn't even know where to bury him. We had no home. How to Succeed in AI Chat
Reset Dialogue When Stuck
If your conversation has gone off the rails, or doesn't end no matter what you say, it's best to simply reset and start anew from a clean slate by clicking the button with a Refresh icon at the top of the chat box. Instead of trying several methods within one conversation, trying one strategy at a time and refreshing if it doesn't go anywhere is generally more effective.
Return to Login Screen if Combat Begins
Sometimes, NPCs will suddenly become violent during AI dialogues. When this happens, it's best to just bail out to the login screen; when you return, the NPC will be found just as they were before the conversation started.
If you accidentally kill a dialogue-capable NPC, our experience has shown that they will respawn, but this has not been heavily tested, so it's best to simply avoid engaging them in combat.
Double-Check the Hint
Even if the NPC appears to be happy with the result of your discussion, this won't always end the dialogue. Double-checking the text written in the hint will imply the win condition, so try strategies which will lead the dialogue towards that result.
