WWM - How to Get Mount Early

The earliest way to get a mount is by stealing from an NPC while keeping an eye out for authorities. Find out alternative ways to get mounts early in the game and how to ride them!

Steal From a Passing NPC

Steal from NPC Early in the Game
The quickest way to mount a horse is by stealing one from the first mounted NPC that you will find at the start of the game. Press F or R2 after getting near the horse, then get ready to sprint away to avoid battling the angry NPC.

Avoid Stealing Many Horses to Evade Authorities

If you keep stealing more horses along the way, there are higher chances of the authorities learning about this. A bounty may be placed on your head, or numerous NPCs may try to chase you and attack you.

Main Story Progression Until General's Shrine

Horse Thieves at General
An alternative way to get mounted immediately is by following the main story quests up until the General's Shrine. Once you get within the vicinity, you will find a couple of horse thieves going their way. Defeat them and claim a horse for yourself.

How to Ride Mounts

Press on F or R2 to Ride a Horse

Ride Horse Prompt
Get near a horse and press F for PC players or R2 for the PS5 users if you wish to ride one.

Press Q or L2 + Square to Dismount

Dismount Options
To dismount your horse, simply press Q if you are a PC player or L2 + Square for the PS5 users. If you want to hop away while going down your horse, press L2 + X instead.

How to Summon Horses

Press 6 or Touchpad + Square to Summon Horse

Summon Horse Option
To summon your Mounts, press 6 in the keyboard or the Touchpad + Square buttons for the PS5 controller. Your horse will come running to your side once you summon them.
