This is a guide on how to befriend Mei Zhaole in the AI Chat menu in Where Winds Meet. Learn how to befriend Mei Zhaole by listening to his problems with the help of specific AI chat prompts.
List of Contents
To befriend Mei Zhaole, listen to his problems and offer words of support for him to leave the Nine Mortal Ways definitively. If the chat goes smoothly, he will ask if you could spare him 50,000 coins. Give him the coins to successfully befriend him.
Note: You will be prompted to offer 50,000 coins to Mei Zhaole. Give the coins to resume the chat and successfully befriend him. |
Mei Zhaole dries his tears, a determined fire now blazing in his eyes! (Affection +100, becomes Revered) Note: You will receive Mei Zhaole's Debt Note, which you can give to Zhong Jielang's Page Boy in the Palace of Supreme Oneness in Kaifeng City. |
Note that AI conversations can be unpredictable and even with the same inputs, the same result is not necessarily guaranteed.

The Palace of Supreme Oneness is a temple found on the northeastern side of Kaifeng City. Enter the large hall with the blue sign and go left to see Zhong Jielang and his page boy. Give the page boy Mei Zhaole's Debt Note to earn your compensation of 100,000 coins.

If your conversation has gone off the rails, or doesn't end no matter what you say, it's best to simply reset and start anew from a clean slate by clicking the button with a Refresh icon at the top of the chat box. Instead of trying several methods within one conversation, trying one strategy at a time and refreshing if it doesn't go anywhere is generally more effective.

Sometimes, NPCs will suddenly become violent during AI dialogues. When this happens, it's best to just bail out to the login screen; when you return, the NPC will be found just as they were before the conversation started.
If you accidentally kill a dialogue-capable NPC, our experience has shown that they will respawn, but this has not been heavily tested, so it's best to simply avoid engaging them in combat.

Even if the NPC appears to be happy with the result of your discussion, this won't always end the dialogue. Double-checking the text written in the hint will imply the win condition, so try strategies which will lead the dialogue towards that result.
| We are still researching regarding what gift this NPC gives. Please stay tuned for updates. |
After crossing the bridge to the Nine Mortal Ways Base from Ghostlight Market, take a right past a building and you will find Mei Zhaole pacing on a wooden platform.
