This is a guide on how to befriend Daozheng in the AI Chat menu in Where Winds Meet. Learn how to calm Daozheng down by giving him tips to change his perspective and recommending rest to him, as well as a list of specific AI Chat prompts.

How to Befriend Daozheng
Help Daozheng Calm Down
Daozheng is in a verge of mental break down due to the repetition of his task. Your goal is to calm him down by telling him to shift his perspective and also recommending a rest from his work. It might take a while before his AI befriends you but just keep insisting he needs to rest so you can befriend him.
Example of Successful Conversation
 (grinding herbs with mechanicalprecision, eyes twitching) I can't do this anymore! Why don't I just burn down this medicine room-aaaaaah! Burn! Burn! Burn! Burn! Burn! Burn! Burn! Burn! Burn! Burn! Burn! And then-YES! Rename myself! Call me Bill! Bill L. O' Cracy! Because this madness of scrolls and grinding is all I'll ever be! |

| (eyes wide, hands trembling) Wanderer, the endless grinding of herbs, the mountains of scrolls, the unending bureaucracy-aaaaaaahhhh! It drives this humble monk mad! Each grind must be recorded, each step approved. How can one attain peace amidst such chaos ?! |

| (sitting cross-legged, chanting wildly) All conditioned dharmas are like dreams, illusions, bubbles ... ajsdkfljasdkl! You speak wisdom, Wanderer! Yet the herbs defy my every effort. Each grind feels meaningless. Who wrote these rules? Who approves my suffering? |

| (standing up abruptly, pacing) Wanderer, I appreciate your concern. But the grind is relentless! Each herb must be perfect, each record precise. I've filed countless scrolls, yet my spirit remains trapped. How can I find solace in such a cycle? |
| By seeing the bigger picture in why you are doing it. Rather than focusing on "oh it needs to be perfect, I can't seem to stop thinking about the herbs blah blah". Look it like "By grinding this herbs, even though its tiring, at least it would help a lot of people and that's what matters" |
| (scratching his head frantically) Wanderer, your words are profound. Yet, the herbs taunt me with their scent and resistance. I file complaints to the universe daily, but no divine response comes. How can I see beyond this grind when it consumes me entirely? |

| (chanting softly, eyes closed) Perhaps you are right, Wanderer. To find peace, I must shift my gaze from the task to the purpose. But the ledger looms over me, demanding perfection. How can I transcend this madness? Aaaaahhhh! The struggle is real! |
| Whenever I experience fatigue in perfectionism. I would rest for awhile and return once my mind has cleared up. |
| (sighing deeply, nodding) Rest does sound appealing. But the thought of falling behind in my duties fills me with dread. Still, perhaps a moment of respite will clear my mind. Thank you, Wanderer. I shall try to meditate and find some peace. |

Note that AI conversations can be unpredictable and even with the same inputs, the same result is not necessarily guaranteed.
How to Succeed in AI Chat
Reset Dialogue When Stuck
If your conversation has gone off the rails, or doesn't end no matter what you say, it's best to simply reset and start anew from a clean slate by clicking the button with a Refresh icon at the top of the chat box. Instead of trying several methods within one conversation, trying one strategy at a time and refreshing if it doesn't go anywhere is generally more effective.
Return to Login Screen if Combat Begins
Sometimes, NPCs will suddenly become violent during AI dialogues. When this happens, it's best to just bail out to the login screen; when you return, the NPC will be found just as they were before the conversation started.
If you accidentally kill a dialogue-capable NPC, our experience has shown that they will respawn, but this has not been heavily tested, so it's best to simply avoid engaging them in combat.
Double-Check the Hint
Even if the NPC appears to be happy with the result of your discussion, this won't always end the dialogue. Double-checking the text written in the hint will imply the win condition, so try strategies which will lead the dialogue towards that result.
