Shadow Step and Daunting Strike Cheese Method
Based on our observations, Elder Gongsun is designed to attack you when you consecutively attack him in close proximity, particularly using Light Attacks. With this in mind, you can cheese the fight. First, cast Shadow Step's wave slash from a distance. Then, move in close for the follow-up strike, which he will not dodge or retaliate against.
Take note that you will run out of Endurance from spamming Shadow Step, so you must wait for it to refill. During this time, also keep an eye out for his Qi recovery skill to cancel it with Daunting Strike.
Dodge His Melee Combos
Elder Gongsun has a full melee combo that can be difficult to block and parry due to the variety of different timings it has. We highly recommend focusing on dodging and maintaining your distance during this combo, as this can easily exhaust your Qi bar when you are successfully hit.
Parry Red Attacks
Elder Gongsun has two Red attacks, one for when he does the Two-Handed Palm Strike and executes a 5-hit combo with a Red attack at the end, and the other for when he puts out a Smoke bomb and performs the Leaping Toad as a Red attack.
The Two-Handed Palm Strike is mostly used whenever you attack him, so always prepare yourself to Parry this move and the 5-hit combo afterwards as they can be easily telegraphed. On the other hand, make sure to stay close to him inside the Smoke bomb so you can time your parry for when he does the Leaping Toad red attack.

| Flurry Combo | Elder Gongsun performs a flurry of kicks after being attacked, performing 10 different kicks throughout the combo. All of the Kicks can be parried and dodged, with the final three kicks triggering a counterattack when perfectly parried. |
| Toad Slam | Elder Gongsun jumps on top of the bamboo poles, leaping from one pole to another, before following up with a red glow Toad Slam. The slam can be dodged and parried, triggering a counterattack if parried perfectly. |
| Two-Handed Palm Strike | Elder Gongyun performs a Two-Handed Palm Strike, pushing you away after an attack. This move can be dodged and parried. |
| Palm Strike Flurry | After being attacked, Elder Gongyun performs a 5-hit Combo, ending with a red-glowing Palm Strike. The combo can be parried and dodged, with the red Palm Strike triggering a counterattack when perfectly parried.. |
| Cloaked Toad | Elder Gongyun throws a smoke bomb that can temporarily obscure your vision, before performing a Leaping Toad red attack. The smoke bomb can only be dodged, and the Leaping Toad can be dodged or parried, triggering a counterattack if parried perfectly. |
| Leaping Toad | Elder Gongyun leaps into the air and is surrounded by a Toad-like aura before slamming into the ground. Elder Gongyun leaps into the air three times, with all the attacks being able to be parried or dodged. |

Elder Gongsun Boss Rewards
The Older Timer Got It Achievement
After defeating Elder Gongsun, you will automatically get The Older Timer Got It achievement and rewards you with 5 Echo Jades upon claiming it.
Can Be Summoned As A Companion
Once you have defeat Elder Gongsun, you will be able to summon him as a Companion against any World Boss or Campaign Boss that allows you to bring a companion to assist in the fight. He specializes in staggering and knocking down enemies to set you up for wide openings to deal burst damage.
