How to Unlock Rivals and Friends
Talk to Gai Yangshu in South Imperial Garden

To unlock the Wandering Tale Rivals and Friends, talk to Gai Yangshu near the South Imperial Garden boundary stone. He can be found under a tree.
Rivals and Friends Walkthrough
| Step | Objectives |
|---|---|
| 1 |  Talk to Wen Jinyu in North Imperial Garden. He can be found in a gazebo southwest of the area by the river. Talk to him twice to get the corresponding clue. |
| 2 |  Talk to Gai Yangshu again and select the Rivals and Friends dialogue option. |
| 3 |  Go to the Baojin Tower and obtain the Book of Poetic Arts from Ni Yun. She can be found on the 2nd floor just by the stairs. You can either talk to her and pay 10000 Gold to get it or use Celestial Seize instead. |
| 4 |  Buy the Throat Soothing Tea from Bai Zhu in his shop. He's located outside Kaifeng City, just west of Imperial Artisan Court or east of Jinming Pool. He will only be available starting at the Chen Hour. |
| 5 |  Give the Book of Poetic Arts and Throat Soothing Tea to Gai Yangshu. |
| 6 |  Paint the Cherry Blossom trees near the South Imperial Garden boundary stone. Go on top of the stone arch there to start painting. You just need to capture Cherry Blossom trees for the painting. |
| 7 |  Find and obtain the Writings on Flower Viewing. It's on a shelf in the Archery Hall building, just southwest of the South Imperial Garden boundary stone. |
| 8 |  Give the painting and the Writings on Flower Viewing to Wen Jinyu. |
| 9 |  Hang the curtain by the entrance of the gazebo to complete the quest. |
