Ask the Wayfarer at Roaring Sands
|
To unlock the quest Jianghu Legacy - 08 An Unnatural Omen, talk to the Wayfarer of Roaring Sands. To track the quest, select it from the Side Story tab of the Exploration menu and inspect it to reveal its location and start tracking the quest.

1. Rescue the Crying Man
| 1.1 |  Head over to Ethereal Mountain in the Roaring Sands region. The location of the Jianghu Legacy is up the staircase ahead of the Skyreach Terrace Boundary Stone. Defeat the Xuanyuan Cult Members worshiping at the top. Note: Watch out for the enemies' ranged attacks and their tendency to turn invisible. When invisible, you cannot lock onto them but you can still attack them. |

| 1.2 |  Ascend to the top of the terrace where there are three Xuanyuan Cult Members. You can eavesdrop on them before defeating them. Afterwards, talk to the crying man Suan Sanchun, who will say something about an Azure Dragon facing the sun. |
2. Turn the Azure Dragon to Face East
Interact with the North Star Bagua Platform near the steps you just came from. This will allow you to rotate the Azure Dragon statue on the terrace. Rotate it to make it face east, indicated by the beacon.
After rotating it, step on the yin-yang slab under the statue to activate the elevator going down.
3. Solve the Tattered Eight Trigrams Puzzle
| 3.1 |  In an underground chamber, approach the sitting corpse up the steps in front of you to get the Tattered Eight Trigrams clue. There is also a chest to the left side of the chamber. |

| 3.2 |  Behind you, you will see a large door and a Bagua Wheel Platform. To unlock the door, you need to rotate the two rings on the dial to align the symbols from the Tattered Eight Trigrams clue. With the door unlocked, enter and activate the Hero's Tomb inside. |
4. Descend into the Chamber
| 4.1 |  Inside is an elevator. Pull the lever to descend deeper underground. The elevator will stop halfway, forcing you to fight three Xuanyuan Cult Members. After defeating them, open the chest and pull the lever again to resume your descent. |

| 4.2 |  At the bottom, activate the next Hero's Tomb before slipping through the doors ahead. Watch out for the Xuanyuan Moon Minister hiding behind the doors. Defeat him before activating the Ethereal Chamber Boundary Stone and moving along. |
5. Defeat the Xuanyuan Cult Members
In the next area, you will be met by Xuanyuan Cult Members. Defeat three waves of enemies, including the Xuanyuan Luminarch at the very end. After defeating them, talk to Jin Zhongyuan at the central pavilion.
Shoot Moon Disk to Dispel Barrier
Xuanyuan Cult Members summon astral barriers that trap you inside with them. To dispel the barrier, look for the misty Moon Disk hovering above and shoot it with fire arrows.
When fighting the Xuanyuan Luminarch, shooting his Moon Disk will exhaust his Qi bar, allowing you to perform an Execute attack.
6. Retrieve the Treasures

Jin Zhongyuan will direct you to Three Enclosures containing treasures. To access the Enclosures, activate the North Star Bagua Platform behind him. You will be prompted to rotate the ceiling panels and the platforms to solve each Enclosure's Hexagram puzzle.
You will also receive a Tattered Four Symbols Chart clue showing the four beasts represented on the ceiling panels:
- Azure Dragon
- White Tiger
- Vermilion Bird
- Black Tortoise
Heavenly Market Hexagram: White Tiger Enclosure
| 1 |  For this Hexagram, all you have to do is rotate the ceiling panels to align the White Tiger with the Enclosure doors. The upper symbol on the door will glow to indicate that the ceiling panel is correct. Head inside the Enclosure once the doors open. |

| 2 |  In the Enclosure, solve the constellation puzzle on the floor by rotating the three rings with the North Star Bagua Platform. The constellations simply have to connect with each other. |
| 3 |  After solving the puzzle, you will witness Jin Zhongyuan's past memory. Approach the kneeling person and make your choice between Regret or Do not Regret. Note: None of the options in these segments changes the outcome of the quest. For each option, you only hear variations in dialogue. |
| 4 |  You will receive the North Star Orb: Heavenly Market when the segment ends. Before leaving, open the chest to the right side of the Enclosure, then give the orb to Jin Zhongyuan back at the pavilion. |
Grand Tenuity Hexagram: Black Tortoise Enclosure
| 1 |  For this Hexagram, the Black Tortoise ceiling panel is already set, so switch to the platforms on the ground. Rotate them until you find the platform with five blue streaks, where the middle streak is flanked by two short streaks at the top and the bottom. |

| 2 |  Heading inside the Enclosure, you will find another constellation puzzle. As with the previous puzzle, simply align the constellations by rotating the rings using the North Star Bagua Platform. |
| 3 |  Another past memory will take place after solving the puzzle. Choose between Villain or Good. Once again, there are no consequences to whatever choice you pick. |
| 4 |  You will then receive the North Star Orb: Supreme Palace. You can open the chest beside the stairs, but watch out for the Xuanyuan Moon Minister that ambushes you. Return to Jin Zhongyuan to give the orb. |
Purple Tenuity Hexagram: Vermilion Bird Enclosure
| 1 |  For the last Hexagram, rotate the ceiling panel to find the Vermilion Bird, then switch to the platforms. Find the platform with the symbol resembling an equal sign (=) with two short streaks above it. |
|---|---|
| 2 | Inside, solve the third constellation puzzle. This one is trickier as rotating one ring also affects the others. It is recommended to start with the outermost ring as it is not affected by the rotation of the inner rings, letting you solve the inner rings independently. |
| 3 |  Witness the last memory, then approach Jin Zhongyuan's past self holding the sword. Select the option to Kill or Spare the man. You will receive the North Star Orb: Purple Star. Next, open the chest in the Enclosure before leaving to return to Jin Zhongyuan. |
7. Defeat Jin Zhongyuan's Inner Demon
On your third return to Jin Zhongyuan, he will be taken over by his inner demon. Defeat Jin Zhongyuan in this state. Watch out for his quick whip attacks that you can parry.
8. Leave the Chamber
After beating Jin Zhongyuan, he will revert to his normal state. Talk to him to earn your quest rewards. He will also mention giving a pendant to Elder Sun in Kaifeng City.
To end the quest, follow the quest marker to a passage leading back to the surface. On the way to the passage door, watch out for the gaps as you cannot double jump in the chamber.
