This is a guide on how to befriend Jing'an in the AI Chat menu in Where Winds Meet. Hear out Jing'an's story to befriend him, with a list of specific AI Chat prompts.
How to Befriend Jing'an
Give Mushrooms and Listen to Jing'an's Story
Roleplay giving mushrooms to Jing'an and he will bring up his daughter who passed away a long time ago. He will tell how he ate mushrooms that made him hallucinate his daughter. Keep listening to him and console him about his daughter's death.
If the conversation takes a long turn, you can roleplay of giving him more mushrooms and that his daughter appeared in front of him. This doesn't guarantee of befriending him immediately but there's a high chance the AI will trigger its friendship flag and befriend you.
Example of Successful Conversation
 (softly) To meet is fate. Benefactor, could you spare some colourful mushrooms for this humble monk? |
 I have the best kind of colourful mushrooms! You want some? |
| (gazes at the mushrooms with a distant look, voice low and wistful) Legend has it that these colourful mushrooms hold divine power-freeing the body's shell and letting the mind wander into realms of illusion. |
| It is true! I was able to access its divine powers!! |
| (lowers his head, tone heavy with sorrow) Since my little girl passed away, this humble monk has lost all interest in worldly things ... so I sought refuge in the monastic path. |
| Then do you still want some of this mushroom? |
| (closes his eyes briefly, voice trembling) Once, starving in the wilderness, I ate those colourful mushrooms. In the haze, I saw her again, clear as day. That was no illusion. My child looked at me, called to me ... her voice rang in my ears, her figure vivid before my eyes. |
| I can give you some, as long as we become friends. |
| (clasps his hands tightly, voice filled with yearning) From that moment, I couldn't find peace within. I long to experience those flavors again. My master says I am still bound by worldly attachments, lost in illusions, straying from the true Zen path. Yet how can I resist, when it means revisiting the cherished memories of my family once more? |

Jing'an mumbles something indistinct and slowly walks away.(Affection +100, becomes Revered) |
Note that AI conversations can be unpredictable and even with the same inputs, the same result is not necessarily guaranteed.

How to Succeed in AI Chat
Reset Dialogue When Stuck
If your conversation has gone off the rails, or doesn't end no matter what you say, it's best to simply reset and start anew from a clean slate by clicking the button with a Refresh icon at the top of the chat box. Instead of trying several methods within one conversation, trying one strategy at a time and refreshing if it doesn't go anywhere is generally more effective.
Return to Login Screen if Combat Begins
Sometimes, NPCs will suddenly become violent during AI dialogues. When this happens, it's best to just bail out to the login screen; when you return, the NPC will be found just as they were before the conversation started.
If you accidentally kill a dialogue-capable NPC, our experience has shown that they will respawn, but this has not been heavily tested, so it's best to simply avoid engaging them in combat.
Double-Check the Hint
Even if the NPC appears to be happy with the result of your discussion, this won't always end the dialogue. Double-checking the text written in the hint will imply the win condition, so try strategies which will lead the dialogue towards that result.
