Talk to the Eastbound Monk Near the Camel Station Boundary Stone

To trigger this Encounter, head in the direction of the Camel Station Boundary Stone northwest of the Jade Gate Pass region. You should see a monk and his white horse together on the sand. Talk to the monk to start the quest.

1. Talk to the Eastbound Monk
Talk to the Eastbound Monk who has just returned from a pilgrimage and is on his way back to Chang'an, past Jade Gate Passing. After telling him that the pass has been closed for a long time, he will leave.
2. Meet the Monk on the Next Day
Change the time to the next day. You will find the Eastbound Monk south of the Camel Station Boundary Stone on the map, standing on the slope of a dune. Talking to him, he will tell you that he has been robbed. Volunteer to help him retrieve his items.
3. Retrieve the Monk's Lost Items
Use Wind Sense to detect the thieves' footprints, which lead you to a group of bandits just beyond the dune. Instead of fighting them head on, use Celestial Seize to quickly retrieve the monk's belongings around his dead horse. Then, return them to the monk.
The four items you need to retrieve are: the Ten Sages Sutra, Ten Powers Sutra, Merit Wheel Sutra, and Relic Casket.
4. Find the Monk Again Near Horsehelm Village
Change the time again to the next day to locate the Eastbound Monk, this time southeast of the Camel Station where Horsehelm Village is. You will find him sitting by a campfire above a nearby Meow Meow puzzle. Talk to him to find out what happened to him.
5. Gather Some Dry Twigs Around the Tree
Gather some dry twigs for the monk. Head over to the tree marked just ahead and gather the dry twigs around it until you're prompted to return. From a distance, eavesdrop on the monk's conversation with the man he offered his clothes to, then set the branches down.
Afterwards, listen to the monk about his pilgrimage by the campfire.
6. Find the Monk in Wraithridge Pass
Wait for the next day again to find the Eastbound Monk further east in Wraithridge Pass, near the Outside Whitecrown City Boundary Stone. Talk to him to offer him water. He will give you an alms bowl before leaving again.
7. Catch Up with the Monk and Return the Alms Bowl
Catch up with the Eastbound Monk past the gates where the Outside Whitecrown City Boundary Stone is located. This time, you don't have to wait until the next day.
Talk to the monk who is standing in front of the arch leading away from Jade Gate Passing. The quest will end after the monk walks past the arch.
