To start the Wandering Tale The Final Retreat, you need to complete its pre-requisite Wandering Tale A Tassel and a Tale. At the end of the quest, talk to Granny Pan and Young Yichao to start The Final Retreat in Squarewall Hold.

- Talk to Granny Pan and Young Yichao
- Find All Three Gong Fragments
- Return to Granny Pan and Young Yichao
- Ring the Gong at the Top of the Ruins
1. Talk to Granny Pan and Young Yichao
Talk to Granny Pan and Young Yichao to assess the situation in Squarewall Hold. Before Granny Pan runs off, Young Yichao will tell you to find three fragments of the Retreat Gong.
Note that in this altered state of Squarewall Hold, some enemies are invisible, but you can complete the quest without fighting them.
2. Find All Three Gong Fragments
| Gong Fragment 1 |  The first fragment is found on the roof of a building south of the Squarewall Hold Ruins Boundary Stone. Watch out for the invisible enemy on the roof. Open the chest on top. |

| Gong Fragment 2 |  The second fragment is southwest of the building where you found the first fragment. It is at the corner of a ruined house with some pots. |
| Gong Fragment 3 |  The third fragment is with a corpse in a watchtower northwest of the ruined building where the second fragment is found. Open the chest in the watchtower too. |
3. Return to Granny Pan and Young Yichao
After obtaining all gong fragments, return to Granny Pan and Young Yichao on the roof of a tower southwest of Squarewall Hold.
4. Ring the Gong at the Top of the Ruins
Next, you'll have to ring the Retreat Gong at the top of the floating ruins of Squarewall Hold. You have to platform your way to the top where the gong is, which is floating southwest of the ruins. To have a clear sense of the path going there, follow the chests heading up.
After striking the gong, a cutscene will play where Squarewell Hold will be restored, ending the quest.
Unlocks Encounter - Feline Fixation in Squarewall Hold
Completing The Final Retreat is required to unlock the Encounter Feline Fixation, which is also located in Squarewall Hold. To trigger the Encounter, you need to pet the kitten Pawsie five times at the foot of the tower where you found Granny Pan and Young Yichao.
