The best companion to bring with against Sleeping Daoist would be Yi Dao due to his ability to stagger enemies for crowd control and healing capatabilities to help you survive throughout the fight. He is especially useful whenever you need to keep your distance and recover health via items or martial arts.
Take note that Companions will also be brought to his 2nd phase so try to draw aggro on the 1st phase so that Yi Dao still has full health once you reach the next phase.

You can encounter the Sleeping Daoist World Boss between two Waypoints in the middle of Jadebrook Mountain in the Qinghe region.

Sleeping Daoist has a quick yellow attack that can be difficult to dodge due to the short animation. Make sure to use ranged weapons such as the Vernal Umbrella or Soulshade Umbrella to help you avoid attacks easier while still maintaining your damage output.
Additionally, you can also make use of the Jadewind Shield from the Inkwell Fan to block his wind projectiles with ease. Take note that this does not block his Rock Throw move.

Sleeping Daoist has a variety of moves that can give you a prompt for executing the Cloud Steps mystic art to bring you closer to him. We recommend using Cloud Steps whenever you can so you never miss the opportunity to deal damage.
Additionally, we also suggest using Ranged weapons as most of his melee attacks are difficult to telegraph due to the short animations. Keep a look out for his yellow attack when you are in melee range as this can deal a huge chunk of damage to you and ultimately end your run.

The Hero's Realm version of Sleeping Daoist has various unique moves that are completely different from his World Boss version. Watch out for the Stampede of Donkeys move as this requires you to merge into the donkey lanes to help avoid Sleeping Daoist's constant projectile attacks.
Keep in mind that this move is different from the Charging Donkeys move, where each donkey can damage you. Stampede of Donkeys does not damage you while you are in donkey mode, although Sleeping Daoist's projectiles can still easily whittle down your HP.
The Illusion Donkey move can easily wipe out your party if you fail to destroy all donkeys within the duration. We recommend splitting up with your teammates and destroying each donkey as fast as possible before the duration expires.
Take note that Sleeping Daoist will constantly fire homing projectiles at each player for the duration, so try to parry between your attacks while still focusing on destroying all the donkeys.
Sleeping Daoist will randomly select 3 players to float in the air for a few seconds before slamming them down on the ground to deal damage. We recommend turning yourself into a donkey by going through the AoE effect nearby and stand beneath the floating players to catch them so they can avoid the damage from the slam.

Affected players should distance themselves from their allies to avoid hitting them with the trap, while players who are not affected should destroy the vines once they sprout to break their allies free. |

| Stampede of Donkeys | Sleeping Daoist turns all players into a donkey and summons two portals to send out a horde of donkeys while he starts attacking with projectiles. Merge with the running donkeys to blend in and easily avoid Sleeping Daoist's projectiles. |

You CAN use steadfast stance on bosses once it has a high enough breakthrough rank. While at that point in the game you probably have better options, it is pretty nice against this boss because you dont get staggered by the bullet chains, so if you fail one you can still parry the rest
