You can leave a sect by choosing the Betray Master option in Where Winds Meet. Find out how to leave sect, what are the consequences of leaving, and so much more.

How to Leave Sect

Steps on How to Leave Sect

Open the sect menu.png
While you are in the game with an active character, access the menu and choose Sect.

Betray your master.png
On the sect menu screen, navigate to the bottom right portion and click or press the Betray Master button.

Confirm your choice.png
You will be asked to confirm your decision to leave the sect. Press the Confirm button to proceed.

For the final step, you will undergo a Severance Trial, which includes participating in a round of Perception Forest. You will be able to join any sect before doing the match, and the Severance Trial period will end as soon as you conclude it.

These steps apply to all sects with Nine Mortal Ways being the sole exception. After completing the required steps, you will be able to join any sect except the one you just left.

Nine Mortal Ways Members Must Pay a Fee

Leaving the Nine Mortal Ways
Instead of undergoing a Severance Trial, you will receive an objective to locate Ni Laoshan, the current sect elder. He will ask for 50,000 coins in exchange for leaving the sect.

This step is mandatory, as refusing to pay Ni Laoshan will result in a threat from him and you will still be unable to leave the sect unless you pay.

Leaving a sect will strip you of your current rank within the sect, as well as any titles that you have earned during your stay with a sect. Naturally, you would lose access to the Sect shop as well, as that is reserved exclusively for the Sect's members.

Naturally, you would lose access to the Sect shop as well, as that is reserved exclusively for the Sect's members. However, you get to keep the items you bought from the shop, including exclusive cosmetic items.

24-Hour Restriction

After leaving a sect, you cannot rejoin it for 24 hours. Keep this in mind when leaving a sect and consider whether you are certain that you do not want to rejoin it in the foreseeable future.

Six-Day Restriction for Leaving a Sect After Rejoining

Six-Day Restriction.
If you leave a sect and then rejoin it within 24 hours, you will be prohibited from leaving the sect for six days. Make sure you're fine with staying in your chosen sect if you decide to rejoin it; you won't be able to join any other sects until the restriction has been lifted.
