Echoes of Old Battles is the 01 Jianghu Legacy Quest found in Qinghe in Where Winds Meet. To solve the wall puzzle, press the blocks with these symbols 山 河 寸 土 and 誓死不易. Find the quest objectives, its rewards, and how to unlock it here.
How to Solve the Puzzle on the Wall

After learning the Northern Oath and the Northern Oath gesture. Perform the Oath in front of the Statue to reveal the Wall Puzzle. Pulling out the blocks on the wall will cause them to light up, and pushing them into the wall will cause them to dim.
To solve the puzzle, you must push the stone blocks with the characters from the Northern Oath clue (山 河 寸 土 and 誓死不易).

To unlock the quest Jianghu Legacy - 01 Echoes of Old Battles, talk to the eavesdropper by the gate at Battlecrest Slope. To track the quest, select it from the Jianghu Legacy tab of the Exploration menu and inspect it to reveal its location.

1. Investigate the Training Grounds
Investigate the eavesdropper by the gate at Battlecrest Slope. After talking to him, open the gate and defeat the guards and Zhang Bao on the training grounds. Zhang Bao is a tough enemy, so make sure to parry and dodge as necessary.
2. Light the Correct Contraption
After defeating all the enemies, open the chest on the training ground to get the treasure map clue. The map shows locations of contraptions, one of which has to be lit to reveal the underground passage. Light the correct contraption, which is the mechanism just beside the chest.
3. Descend Underground
After lighting the correct torches, a contraption will appear at the center of the training ground. Perform Mighty Drop on the to reveal the stairs leading underground. Descend the stairs until you reach a corpse to inspect, giving you another clue with the Yanyun Oath and the Yanyun Oath gesture.
Take a left away from the corpse to descend further down another set of steps, where a large statue is.
4. Solve the Wall Puzzle
Perform the Yanyun Oath gesture in front of the statue, which will activate a wall puzzle. The walls to the left and the right of the statue will show stone blocks with Chinese characters. Pulling them out will cause them to light up, and pushing them into the wall will cause them to dim.
To solve the puzzle, you must light up the stone blocks with the characters from the Yanyun Oath clue:
- Left Wall: 山 河 寸 土
- Right Wall: 誓 死 不 易
5. Unlock the Last Gate
Once you light up the correct characters, the gate will open. Pass through the gate and crouch under the rope trap. You can cross the wood path to grab a treasure chest before dropping into a small area with a water wheel and a waterfall. Go through the waterfall and activate the mechanism to spin the water wheel, unlocking the final stone gate.
6. Find the Treasure
Enter the chamber and open the treasure of the Northern Vow soldiers at the end of the room. Then, read the writings on the wall to end the quest.
